About us
FIRM is a plaintiff personal injury firm handling catastrophic injury, trucking and commercial vehicle collisions, wrongful death, premises liability, and medical malpractice. We carry a few hundred active files and we are growing. Our clients are usually having the worst year of their lives when they call us, and how they are treated between the signed contract and the demand package is most of what they remember about us.
What the job actually is
You own the pre-litigation file. From the day the contract is signed until the case either settles or gets referred out for suit, you are the person the client calls and the person who knows where everything stands.
Day to day that means:
Calling clients on a set schedule, not just when something happens. Most of our complaints from clients in this phase come down to silence, and we do not allow silence.
Tracking treatment. Knowing who is treating, who stopped going, who needs a referral, and flagging gaps before they become a defense argument.
Ordering and chasing medical records and bills, and staying on providers until the file is complete.
Handling liens, letters of protection, and health insurance and Medicare or Medicaid issues, with help from the paralegal on the complicated ones.
Running the property damage side, rental, total loss, and repairs, so the client is not stranded.
Keeping the case management system accurate. If it is not in the system, it did not happen.
Building the demand package once treatment ends, so the attorney gets a file that is ready instead of a pile.
You report to the general paralegal with pre-litigation authority and you work alongside an attorney, a litigation paralegal, and a legal assistant on your team.
What we are looking for
Two years or more in personal injury pre-litigation is the strong preference. If you have worked defense or claims adjusting and want to come across the aisle, we will hear you out. What matters more than the resume is whether you can hold twenty five to forty files in your head, return every call the same day, and tell a supervising attorney bad news early instead of hoping it resolves itself.
Spanish and English is a real advantage here and affects pay.
You should be comfortable in a cloud case management system. We will train you on ours. You should be comfortable on the phone with a client who is angry, or crying, or convinced nothing is happening. That part we cannot train.
Working remote
This seat is fully remote, and it comes with the obligations that go with that. You need a private place to work where you can take client calls without background noise, and internet that does not drop in the middle of a recorded statement. You are expected online and reachable during Central time business hours, on camera for team meetings, and responsive on chat during the day. Files move here the same way they move in an office, which means you stay visible in the system and nobody has to wonder whether a task got done.
