CNC Cabinet Designer — Residential Cabinetry

READ FIRST — NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENT

We are looking for an experienced residential cabinet designer who can take projects from design concept through fabrication-ready CNC files. You must understand cabinet construction, design for efficient CNC production, and already have access to the professional cabinet-design/CNC software you use. The specific platform does not matter, but you must be able to produce reliable production-ready output with it.

This is not an order-entry, drafting-only, rendering-only, or CNC-programming-only role. We need a true designer who understands how cabinets are built and can develop attractive, functional solutions while also designing for efficient fabrication.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are building a new CNC-based cabinetry capability within a growing US residential remodeling organization. Typical work will include kitchens, bathroom vanities, closets, pantries, laundry rooms, bars, built-ins, and similar residential cabinetry.

We previously fabricated cabinets using traditional shop methods and found the process too labor-intensive and expensive to scale. Our new approach is centered on designing specifically for CNC fabrication, with careful attention to material utilization, machining, assembly, hardware, installation, and overall production efficiency.

We already have an established CNC fabrication partner. You will work directly with the shop to make sure designs translate cleanly into production, resolve fabrication questions, make revisions when necessary, and help us develop a smooth and repeatable design-to-production workflow.

Strong interior-design capability is highly preferred. You should be able to develop cabinetry from client goals, site conditions, appliance and fixture requirements, storage needs, and the broader design of the room rather than simply converting measurements into cabinet boxes.

The role will begin as regular project-based work for the first few months while we refine the process and develop the marketing and sales side of this new capability. We expect the work to grow into a full-time role for the right person. Someone who helps us successfully build the cabinetry division and takes meaningful ownership of the process will receive increased compensation when transitioning to full-time work, with potential bonuses and profit sharing for exceptional performance.

COMPENSATION

Initial project-based compensation is expected to be approximately $10–$14 USD/hour depending on experience and demonstrated capability. We are willing to consider more for an exceptional candidate.

HOW TO APPLY

Please answer the following three questions:

1. How many years have you professionally designed residential cabinetry specifically for CNC fabrication?
2. What cabinet-design/CNC software do you use, and do you currently have access to it?
3. Describe your experience taking a cabinet project from initial design through CNC-ready files and coordination with the fabrication shop.

Please also provide examples of at least two residential cabinetry projects showing both design ability and production capability. We want to see design drawings, elevations, renderings, or finished work together with shop drawings, cut lists/BOM, nesting, CNC output, or other fabrication-ready documentation.

We are looking for a top-tier designer who wants to help build a cabinetry division, not simply complete isolated drafting assignments.
