JOB OVERVIEW

The short version

We're a LinkedIn agency. We're good at LinkedIn. We've just taken on work that isn't LinkedIn, and we want someone who lives on the other platforms the way we live on that one.

The first account is an author platform for a US writer with two published books, one investigative nonfiction, one political thriller. Four channels, organic, built from scratch. More accounts like it are coming if this one works.

What the work actually is

Build and run the monthly plan across TikTok, Instagram, X and Facebook
Short-form video is the engine. Cut an existing book trailer into clips, write the hooks, build text-over-video, ship 3 to 4 shorts a week that look native to TikTok and Reels
Write post copy in someone else's voice, not yours
Instagram architecture: carousels, quote cards, Stories prompts, Highlights that tell a first-time visitor where to start
X: thread-form commentary that joins a conversation already running between journalists and advocates, rather than broadcasting into space
Show up in comments and groups like a person, not a brand account
Set up and optimise profiles from zero. Bios, pinned posts, link-in-bio
Lock baseline numbers in month one, then report against them every month. Audience growth, saves and shares and comments rather than likes, video completion, click-through to the site and the book listings
The unusual part, and why this needs a specialist

The author does not appear publicly. No interviews, no filming, no voice notes, no calls. That isn't a scheduling problem we're going to solve later. It's the permanent shape of the job.

Everything you make gets mined out of material that already exists. Two manuscripts, decades of press coverage, recorded interviews, one finished book trailer. Nothing gets invented and put in his mouth.

If that reads as a dealbreaker, this isn't your role. If you read it and thought "so the manuscripts are the content bank", we should talk.

You need to be genuinely good at
Short-form video end to end. Hook, script, cut, caption, publish. CapCut, Premiere, Descript, whatever you use, but you edit it yourself
TikTok and Reels as they behave this month, not as they behaved in 2023
Writing to a voice guide and staying inside it for weeks at a time
Judgement with serious material. Real litigation, real named companies, real people who lost. It has to be accurate and it can't be flippant
Reading the numbers and changing what you make because of them
Helpful, not essential
BookTok and Bookstagram, ARC readers, review generation, Goodreads, Amazon author pages
Getting an author booked onto podcasts
Canva or Figma
US audience fluency. The readers are American

What this role is not

Not LinkedIn. We run that in house
Not paid ads. The client's own team owns those
Not a strategist who briefs other people to make things. You make things
