About Us
Dimension Building is a Registered Master Builder based in Timaru, New Zealand. We build high-end residential homes across South Canterbury, the Mackenzie Country and Christchurch.
We're growing our remote team and are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to work with us online. You'll work directly with our New Zealand office and site teams on quality, architecturally designed homes.
The Role
As our Remote Quantity Surveyor, you'll own the commercial side of our projects from the first quote to the final claim. Everything is done online: you'll price from plans, manage costs in our systems and keep our NZ team up to date. You'll report to our General Manager.
What you'll be doing:
Preparing quotes for high-end residential projects, including digital take-offs from architectural plans
Requesting, chasing and comparing supplier and subcontractor pricing by email and phone
Managing variations and their documentation
Preparing progress and charge-up payment claims
Tracking costs (budget vs actual) and labour in Wunderbuild, our project management platform
Placing material orders with New Zealand suppliers
Keeping clear written and video-call communication with our office and site teams
Helping improve our QS systems, templates and processes
About You
Essential:
At least 7 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor
Proven experience with high-end residential homes
New Zealand construction experience, either working in NZ or remotely on NZ projects
Excellent written and spoken English
Nice to have:
Knowledge of NZ building practice, the NZ Building Code and the Construction Contracts Act 2002
Experience with Wunderbuild, Cubit or other digital take-off software, and Xero
Previous remote work for a New Zealand or Australian builder
Your remote setup:
Reliable high-speed internet, plus a backup connection
Backup power (UPS or generator)
Your own computer (dual monitors preferred), a headset and a webcam
A quiet, dedicated workspace
Availability to work full-time during New Zealand business hours, Monday to Friday
You're accurate and organised, and confident pricing and running full projects in the $1–2 million range. You work well on your own, raise cost risks early and communicate clearly without needing to be chased.
