JOB OVERVIEW

About the Company
We're a growing CPG (consumer packaged goods) food brand selling a specialty baking/dessert ingredient. Our product is sold direct-to-consumer online (Shopify) and in national retail stores, and we're now growing our presence on TikTok Shop. Our brand voice is fun, playful, bold, and trendy. We care about authenticity, in our product and in how we show up online — nothing customer-facing that comes out of this role should be AI-generated. Full company name and brand details will be shared directly with the candidate we move forward with.

This is not an entry-level "post a blog and hope" role. We're looking for someone who actually understands SEO and Google's tools, and can be honest with us about what's working and what isn't. Right now our online store gets very little organic (non-paid) traffic from Google — which means almost every improvement you make should be visible in the numbers. For the right person, that's the good kind of problem to have.

One thing to know before you apply: AI-powered research and SEO tools are fine to use in your process, but final content that ships to our site (product/blog copy, meta descriptions) needs to be human-written or human-edited to sound like us. See "How we use AI" below.

What you'll do:
- Own SEO for our Shopify store: keyword research, on-page optimization (product pages, collection pages, blog content), meta titles/descriptions, and internal linking
- Run technical SEO audits (site speed, mobile-friendliness, structured data, sitemap, crawl errors) and fix or flag issues
- Set up and monitor Google Search Console and GA4, and turn that data into a clear monthly report: what's ranking, what's driving traffic, what to do next
- Research keywords and competitors in our category to find realistic opportunities to rank
- Write or brief SEO-optimized content (product descriptions, blog posts, flavor/recipe pages) that supports both search rankings and our brand voice
- Coordinate with our other contractors (content/TikTok) so SEO content and social content reinforce each other rather than working in silos
- As this proves out, help us evaluate whether Google Ads (Search/Shopping/Performance Max) makes sense as a next channel, and if so, help set it up

Why this role matters:
Our TikTok presence drives awareness and TikTok Shop sales, but we're leaving Google search traffic almost entirely on the table right now. Someone who actually knows SEO could meaningfully grow free, ongoing traffic into our Shopify store — traffic that doesn't disappear when an algorithm changes or an ad budget runs out.

How we use AI:
We're fine with AI-assisted research, keyword clustering, and drafting tools as part of your process. But anything that actually ships to our website — product copy, blog posts, meta descriptions — needs to be human-written or human-edited to sound like us, not raw AI output.

What we're looking for:
- Real, hands-on SEO experience — you must provide examples of previous work (sites you've optimized, and the traffic/ranking results, ideally with before/after numbers)
- Comfortable with Google Search Console and GA4 — not just familiar with the names, but able to read them and act on what you see
- Solid on-page and technical SEO fundamentals (site speed, structured data, mobile-friendliness, internal linking)
- Keyword and competitor research skills
- Strong written English — you'll be writing or briefing content aimed at U.S. home bakers/consumers
- Honest and specific: if something isn't working, we want to hear that plainly, with a reason and a next step, not vague reassurance

Nice to have:
- Experience with Shopify SEO specifically
- Hands-on Google Ads experience (Search, Shopping, or Performance Max)
- Experience in food, beverage, or CPG brands
- Basic content writing skills (blog posts, recipes, product copy)

Schedule & pay:
Part-time, remote, ongoing — starting at approximately 5 hours/week. Pay is TBD based on your experience level. We'll agree on clear performance metrics together (e.g., organic traffic growth, keyword rankings improved, technical issues resolved), and both hours and pay increase as those metrics are met.

To apply:
Please start your reply with the word RANKINGS, so we know you read the full posting — applications that skip this will not be considered. Then include:
1. 2–3 examples of SEO work you've done, with before/after traffic or ranking numbers if you have them
2. Your experience with Google Search Console and GA4, specifically
3. Here's our situation: a direct-to-consumer Shopify brand selling a specialty baking ingredient (think: something people search for alongside recipes, baking terms, and gift ideas), with almost no organic Google traffic today. What are the first 2–3 things you'd investigate to start growing that?
4. Your availability and how soon you could start
