JOB OVERVIEW

We are a small U.S.-based law firm looking for a hands-on AI & Automation Specialist to help us build AI tools, automations, and internal applications that make our practice run better.

This is a flexible, project-based contractor role with strong potential for ongoing work. You'll work directly with the managing attorney, who has broad AI and automation experience, and have real ownership of what you build. We bring the problems and you figure out how to solve them.

About the work:

We're a legal practice, so the work comes with real constraints. You'll be handling confidential client information, and the tools you build need to be secure, reliable, and easy for our legal staff to review. We want someone who can remove the repetitive work around legal judgment, not replace it.

We run OpenClaw as our core AI agent platform, integrated with our cloud-based firm applications. Those include Clio Grow for intake, Clio Manage for matter management, Allo for our phone system, Outlook for email, and several internal applications we built with Lovable that still need further development and integration. Much of this role involves extending that setup by building new OpenClaw skills and integrations, finishing and connecting the Lovable apps, hardening what already exists, and layering AI on top of the systems we already use.

A likely first project would be improving and streamlining our Allo integration, so that calls, transcripts, and AI call summaries flow cleanly into Clio and the rest of our workflow with less manual handling.

What you may work on:

Building, maintaining, and extending our OpenClaw agent with new skills, integrations, and workflows
Continuing development on our existing Lovable apps and building new internal apps with Lovable and Supabase
Creating AI agents and AI-powered workflows for intake, document drafting, deadline tracking, and client communication
Building automations with n8n, Zapier, or similar tools
Connecting Clio, Allo, Outlook, and our internal apps through APIs and webhooks
Using Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, and other AI tools to build and prototype quickly
Working with GitHub and cloud-hosted applications
Researching and testing new AI tools and telling us honestly which ones are worth it
Troubleshooting and improving existing automations

Who we're looking for:

You don't need to be a senior software engineer. We want someone who understands technology, is comfortable using AI to help build solutions, learns quickly, and can take a loosely defined idea and turn it into something that works.

Because this is legal work, we also need someone who takes confidentiality seriously, documents what they build, and is careful about where data goes.

Experience with some of the following is helpful. OpenClaw or similar self-hosted agent frameworks, Lovable, Supabase, Claude/Claude Code, ChatGPT, n8n, Zapier, APIs, GitHub, DigitalOcean, Clio, Allo, or Microsoft 365.

Confidentiality and security:

This role involves access to confidential and privileged client information, and our OpenClaw agent holds credentials to firm systems. A signed NDA is required, along with adherence to our data security and confidentiality policies. All AI tools, models, and third-party services used with client data must be approved in advance, and any new agent capabilities that can take actions in firm systems will be reviewed before deployment.

Compensation and logistics:

Independent contractor, part-time, paid in USD
Fully remote, with some regular availability during U.S. Central Time business hours for check-ins and troubleshooting
Strong written and spoken English, since you'll be working directly with the managing attorney and documenting what you build
Starts with a paid trial project
