JOB OVERVIEW

Hey! I'm Giovanni. I run TechGio, a YouTube channel about tech sales, AI, and building a startup. I'm looking for one talented thumbnail designer to become my go-to for every video. If you obsess over what makes people click and you like clean, premium design over loud clickbait, this one's for you.

THE QUICK VERSION

- What: Thumbnails for long-form YouTube videos. Talking-head tech content.
- How many: 2–3 thumbnails a week (8–12 a month once we're rolling), with 2–3 variations per video so we can test.
- Pay: Starting around $20 per thumbnail, and I'm flexible for the right person. If your work is next level, tell me your rate. I'd rather pay more for someone great than save money on someone average.
- Turnaround: 24 hours from brief to first draft.

ABOUT THE CHANNEL

TechGio started as me documenting my own path into tech sales and helping people break in with no experience. I'm an enterprise account executive at a tech company, and that's still the heart of the channel: what the job is really like, earnings breakdowns, day-in-the-life.

Now it's growing. I'm going deeper into AI and the tech industry (new model releases, the tools I actually use, what's changing and what it means for you). And I'm building my own startup on the side, so I'll be sharing the founder journey while working full-time.

I'm hiring a dedicated video editor separately. This role is thumbnails only, and I want one person who owns it: someone who learns the channel, builds a consistent look, and gets better with every video as we see what performs.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

For each video, I'll send you the title, a short brief on the hook and the angle, a few high-res photos of me (I can shoot specific expressions or poses on request), and any screenshots or assets you need. From there:

- Design 2–3 thumbnail variations per video so we can A/B test.
- Keep it clean and readable. Few words, big and bold. Clear focal point. Readable at phone size. Instantly obvious what the video is about.
- Build and maintain a consistent visual identity for the channel: colors, fonts, layout patterns, how my face and text work together.
- Handle cutouts, background removal, lighting and color on my photos, and sharp product or UI mockups when a video is about a tool.
- Quick revisions from my notes. Usually one round.
- Deliver final PNGs at 1280x720 plus the editable source files (Photoshop, Figma, or whatever you work in).

THE STANDARD

Go look at the thumbnails on these channels before you apply so we're on the same page:

- Jeff Su: ---------- (the golden example: clean, minimal, sharp text, never overdone)

Think premium and clear, not MrBeast. If you looked at those and thought "I can do that," keep reading.

WHO I'M LOOKING FOR

- You've designed YouTube thumbnails for real channels before, ideally tech, business, or productivity, and you can show published examples. Even better if you can point to any that performed well.
- You're strong in Photoshop, Figma, or similar. Clean cutouts, good typography, and you know how to make a face and a few words pop.
- You think about click-through rate, not just "does it look nice." You understand what makes someone stop scrolling.
- You use AI in your workflow where it helps (background removal, generating elements, mockups, whatever). My whole operation runs that way.
- You're into tech and AI, or genuinely curious about it. It shows when the designer understands the topic.
- Fast and reliable. If something's going to slip, I hear about it before it does. I'll always do the same for you.
- Coachable and hungry. I give clear feedback and I'm easy to work with.
- Fluent English. We'll work mostly async on Slack or WhatsApp.

One honest ask: please don't apply if you're just getting started, or if your portfolio is mostly logos, social posts, or general graphic design with no YouTube thumbnails in it. Thumbnails are their own skill. I need someone who already has it.

WHAT YOU GET

- Steady, consistent work. 8–12 thumbnails a month, every month.
- Raises tied to results. If your thumbnails get clicks, your rate goes up. I truly mean that.
- Tools covered. Software, stock assets, fonts. If you need it to do the job well, I'm happy to help pay for it.
- Room to grow. As the channel and the startup take off, there's going to be a lot more to design: launch graphics, product visuals, social content. You get first look at all of it.
- A real voice. I want your ideas on titles, angles, and what to test. You're a creative partner here, not just a pair of hands.

HOW TO APPLY

Start your message with the word "Orbit" so I know you read the whole thing. Then send me:

1. 5–10 YouTube thumbnails you designed, with links to the videos they were used on if possible. Tell me what you were going for on each.
2. Your tools, including any AI tools you use.
3. How many thumbnails per week you can realistically deliver, and your usual turnaround.
4. Your rate per thumbnail.

The strongest applicants get a paid test: one real thumbnail for a real video, before we commit to anything. So you get paid either way.
