JOB OVERVIEW

The Comfy Place is a growing company that values creativity and engaging content across multiple platforms. We are looking for a skilled Illustrator to help bring a variety of creative projects to life, including children's books, affirmation cards, journals, playing cards, workbooks, social media graphics, and merchandise designs. This is an immediate need, and we're looking for someone who can jump in quickly.

An important requirement: our work centers diverse representation, so you must already be experienced and skilled at illustrating Black and Brown people, as well as people of different abilities and genders, authentically and well. We don't have the runway right now for someone who needs to develop this skill on the job.

While this role starts as a project-based engagement, we are absolutely open to a longer-term, as-needed working relationship with the right person if the fit and skill set are strong.

Role Responsibilities:

- Illustrate characters, scenes, and designs across multiple product types, including children's books, affirmation cards, journals, playing cards, and workbooks.
- Create illustrations that can be adapted for social media graphics and merchandise (t-shirts and similar products).
- Develop illustration or motion-graphic style content suitable for short animations, where applicable.
- Maintain visual consistency and quality across a range of formats and products.
- Communicate proactively on timelines given the urgency of current project needs.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have Experience In:

- Illustrating diverse characters, specifically Black and Brown people, and people of different abilities and genders, with authenticity and skill. This is required, not optional.
- Creating artwork for children's books, greeting cards, journals, or similar printed products.
- Adapting illustration work across multiple formats (print, social media, merchandise).
- Basic animation or motion graphics skills are a plus, but not required.
- Working efficiently under real deadlines.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

- Strong portfolio demonstrating diverse character illustration.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Procreate, or similar tools.
- Ability to work quickly without sacrificing quality, given immediate project needs.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
- Available to start immediately.

- Potential for ongoing, as-needed work beyond this initial project for the right candidate.
- Flexible work hours and location but a reliable internet connection is a must and you must be willing to attend weekly team meetings on USA Eastern Standard time.
- Compensation is project-based and will be discussed based on scope and experience.
