JOB OVERVIEW

We are a UK-based insurance claims management and building repair company looking for a part-time Assistant Quantity Surveyor & Project Coordinator to support our growing team.

The role combines quantity surveying, estimating and practical project coordination. You will work alongside our Claims Assessors, administrative team and contractors on residential insurance repair and reinstatement projects across the UK.

Key responsibilities include:

* Preparing and reviewing detailed Schedules of Works (SOW)
* Quantity take-offs and measurements from photographs, plans and survey information
* Preparing material lists for residential repair and reinstatement works
* Estimating labour and material costs
* Reviewing and comparing contractor quotations
* Preparing Bills of Quantities and cost breakdowns where required
* Assisting with procurement and obtaining supplier quotations
* Coordinating material orders and deliveries with contractors
* Monitoring approved values, contractor costs, materials and expected project margins
* Recording and assessing variations during works
* Supporting the team with technical construction queries
* Maintaining clear project records and cost-control spreadsheets

Our projects mainly involve residential property repairs following insured damage, including water damage, fire damage and subsidence. Typical works include strip-out, drying, plastering, decorating, flooring, kitchens, bathrooms, carpentry, plumbing and electrical works.

Ideal candidate:

* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar
* Experience in quantity surveying, estimating or construction costing
* Strong Excel skills
* Experience with take-off/estimating software such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, CostX or similar
* Able to read construction drawings and understand residential building works
* Good written and spoken English
* Highly organised and comfortable working remotely
* UK construction experience is desirable but not essential

Experience in UK insurance reinstatement work is an advantage but not required, as training will be provided.

We are initially looking for approximately 20 hours per week, with the opportunity for the role to grow as the business expands.
