We're looking for a warm, fast-moving Healthcare Clinic Receptionist who is fully fluent in both Spanish and English to be the first voice our patients hear. Fluent Spanish is not a preference here — it's essential to the role, since a significant share of our patients communicate primarily in Spanish. You'll be answering call after call with the same care on the fiftieth as the first, switching between languages seamlessly, while keeping our patient inbox moving right alongside it.
What You Will Own
Patient Communication
— Answer and triage a high volume of incoming patient calls, conducting full conversations in either Spanish or English depending on the patient's preference
— Make outbound calls for appointment confirmations, reminders, and follow-up coordination in both languages
— Monitor and respond to the patient messaging inbox promptly and professionally, matching the patient's language in every reply
— Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments across both clinic locations
— Document every patient interaction accurately in Athena Health
Front-Line Patient Experience
— Set the tone for each patient's experience from the very first hello, in whichever language they speak
— Handle urgent or sensitive calls with empathy and appropriate escalation
— Keep a calm, organized rhythm even during high call-volume stretches
— Communicate clearly and warmly in writing for inbox and message-based patient contact, in both languages
What We Are Looking For
Non-Negotiables
— Fluent, native or near-native Spanish and English speaker — required for every applicant, no exceptions. You must be able to conduct an entire patient call comfortably in either language without hesitation.
— 2+ years in a high-volume phone-based role: medical receptionist, call center, or similar patient/customer-facing environment
— Comfortable managing back-to-back calls in two languages without losing warmth or accuracy
— Proficient with Athena Health or a comparable EMR/scheduling platform
— Strong written communication in both Spanish and English for inbox and message handling
— HIPAA-compliant mindset — no PHI stored locally, strict data handling at all times
— Reliable remote setup: stable high-speed internet, quiet private workspace, headset and webcam
— Willing to complete a brief cognitive and DISC assessment as part of the hiring process
Strong Pluses
— Prior experience in a multi-location clinic or primary care practice
— Familiarity with medical terminology in both English and Spanish
— Experience with patient messaging platforms or CRM tools
— Comfort working with AI tools to help draft or triage patient responses
Critical Policies
— Exclusivity while on the clock — during paid working hours, you support Mercy Wellness only
— Strict HIPAA compliance — no PHI stored locally, no unauthorized sharing, no exceptions
— Confidentiality agreement required — signed prior to start date
What We Offer
— Fully remote, full-time position with consistent Central Time hours
— A direct role in shaping every patient's first impression of a mission-driven family medicine clinic
— A team that values ownership, warmth, and precision in equal measure
— US Federal holidays plus 4 additional cultural holidays
— Paid training and performance-based growth opportunities
— Competitive monthly compensation
HOW TO APPLY — REQUIRED SUBMISSIONS
Submit all items below. Applications missing any of the following, including the bilingual video requirement below, will not be reviewed.
— Resume in PDF format — include relevant phone-based or patient-facing experience
— 2–3 minute introduction video via Loom or Google Drive — you must speak roughly half the video in Spanish and half in
English so we can directly assess your fluency in both. Tell us what draws you to patient-facing work at a family medicine clinic.
Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
