JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator to support our growing UK-based electrical, fire and security business.

You will review tender drawings and specifications, complete quantity take-offs, prepare estimates and produce tender information ready for management review and submission.

This is a technical estimating role, not a general VA or administrative position.

Responsibilities
Review tender drawings, specifications and scope documents
Complete accurate quantity take-offs from PDF drawings
Prepare material and labour estimates
Complete Bills of Quantities and client pricing schedules
Obtain and compare supplier/subcontractor pricing where required
Identify missing information, discrepancies and scope risks
Prepare assumptions, qualifications and exclusions
Highlight potential variations and value-engineering opportunities
Prepare a clear tender summary for final management review
Assist with tender revisions and post-tender clarifications

Projects will cover:

Electrical: Lighting, power, distribution, containment, cabling, testing and associated electrical works.

Fire: Fire alarms, emergency lighting and associated systems.

Security: CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and associated systems.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

Previous electrical estimating experience
Strong electrical drawing interpretation skills
Experience completing quantity take-offs
Good understanding of electrical materials and installation methods
Ability to interpret technical specifications
Strong Excel skills
Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail
Good written English
Ability to work independently

Highly desirable:

Experience estimating for UK electrical contractors
UK construction/tender experience
Fire alarm and emergency lighting knowledge
CCTV, intruder alarm or access control knowledge
Experience with Bills of Quantities
Experience with estimating/take-off software
What Success Looks Like

We want someone who can take a tender package and complete the majority of the estimating process independently.

Your work should provide management with an accurate, commercially reviewed tender that clearly shows:

Scope → Quantities → Materials → Labour → Costs → Risks → Assumptions/Exclusions → Tender Price

The objective is to increase our tender capacity while maintaining pricing accuracy and commercial control.

Working Arrangement

The position will initially be part-time and remote, with the potential to develop into a long-term role as our tender volume increases.

Working during UK working hours will be required for communication and tender reviews.
