JOB OVERVIEW

Looking for an accounting manager that

Ideal candidate is capable of covering a portion of the USA workday (emails, phone calls, and web meetings, etc.) and conversing with customers, vendors, and company employees in written and spoken English.

Accounting oversight and exception management
-Review work prepared by the accounting clerk.
-Investigate unusual transactions, reconciliation differences, duplicate payments, unapplied receipts, vendor issues, bounced payments, credits, etc.
-Determine the proper accounting treatment when something does not fit the normal workflow.
-Perform or supervise monthly account reconciliations and month-end close.

Policies, procedures and internal controls
-Write and maintain accounting policies and SOPs.
-Develop approval processes and controls.
-Identify weaknesses in current processes.
-Help design controls around automated accounting systems and integrations.
-Maintain segregation of duties.

Management reporting
-Monthly P&L, balance sheet and cash-flow reporting.
-Budget-to-actual analysis.
-Variance explanations.
-Department/customer/product profitability where appropriate.
-Cash-flow forecasting.
-Identify trends and exceptions for management rather than simply producing reports.

Budgeting and forecasting
-Develop the annual budget with management.
-Maintain rolling forecasts.
-Compare actual results with budget.
-Explain meaningful variances.
-Help management understand financial consequences of operating decisions.

Accounting systems/process improvement
-Work comfortably with accounting software, Excel and automated workflows.
-Review integrations between operational software and the accounting system.
-Identify where automation makes sense and where human review is needed.
-Help establish audit trails and exception reporting.

Strongly preferred
-Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent substantial experience.
-Month-end closing experience.
-General ledger and account reconciliation experience.
-Financial statement preparation.
-Budgeting and variance analysis.
-Experience creating accounting procedures and internal controls.
-Strong Excel skills.
-Experience with Xero (USA version)

Very desirable
-Experience in a small or midsize privately held business.
-Experience supervising or reviewing accounting clerical work.
