Remote | Full-Time Contractor | Long-Term Role | Flexible Hours
We are Dominate Next, a performance marketing agency based in Scotland. We help DTC ecommerce brands across the UK, US, Europe, and Australia grow through Meta advertising and performance creative.
We are looking for an experienced Performance Video Editor who already understands how to turn raw UGC and creator footage into paid social ads designed to hold attention and drive action.
This is not a general video editing role.
We are not looking for cinematic edits, YouTube videos, podcasts, or aesthetic social content.
We are looking for someone who understands DTC advertising, hooks, pacing, retention, clarity, and direct-response creative.
You'll work directly with our Creative Strategists, who will provide the concepts, briefs, scripts, raw creator footage and strategic direction. Your job is to turn those ingredients into ads that are ready to be tested in real Meta ad accounts.
What you'll do
- Edit short-form performance ads for
- Turn raw UGC and creator footage into sharp, engaging direct-response ads.
- Create different hooks, openings, structures and variations for creative testing.
- Improve pacing, clarity and retention without making UGC feel overproduced.
- Add captions, on-screen text, B-roll, simple motion graphics, sound design and visual effects where appropriate.
- Repurpose strong creator footage into multiple new ads and variations.
- Identify weak sections of an edit and improve them without needing every change explained to you.
- Follow creative briefs and client brand guidelines accurately.
- Work closely with our Creative Strategists, designers, and paid social team.
- Take feedback quickly and continuously improve your work.
You'll typically be producing around 10 to 15 finished ad concepts per week, depending on the complexity of the creative.
We care about quality and speed, not producing volume for the sake of it.
What we're looking for
You should already have experience editing DTC ecommerce ads, UGC ads, or other direct-response paid social creative.
You must have:
- A strong portfolio containing real UGC or paid social ad edits.
- Strong understanding of hooks, pacing, retention and short-form storytelling.
- Experience editing content designed for Meta, TikTok or similar short-form environments.
- Excellent attention to detail across captions, spelling, cuts, framing and audio.
- Strong written English.
- The ability to take a creative brief and make good editing decisions independently.
- Experience producing multiple variations from the same raw footage.
- Reliable communication and the ability to hit deadlines consistently.
- Fast and reliable internet.
- Editing software
Our primary editing workflow is CapCut, so you must be highly proficient with it or comfortable working primarily within CapCut.
Experience with Premiere Pro, After Effects, AI video tools, or motion graphics is a bonus.
You'll probably be a strong fit if:
- You understand why the first 3 seconds of an ad matter.
- You naturally remove pauses, repetition and anything that makes an ad drag.
- You know when UGC has become too polished and stopped feeling native.
- You can take average raw footage and make the final creative substantially better.
- You think about the objective of the ad rather than simply making the timeline look good.
- You can look at an edit and identify what isn't working without waiting for somebody else to tell you.
- You enjoy testing different versions of creative rather than treating every video as a one-off project.
- You want your work to be tested in real ad accounts where you can learn what actually performs.
This is probably not the right role if:
- Most of your experience is editing YouTube videos, podcasts, or cinematic reels.
- You mainly want to make aesthetic lifestyle content.
- You don't have examples of UGC or paid social advertising work.
- You need detailed instructions for every editing decision.
- You struggle with written English, captions or spelling.
- You don't enjoy feedback and revisions.
- You're looking for a short-term freelance project.
How we work
- This is a full-time remote contractor position for 37.5 hours per week.
- We operate differently from companies that require remote contractors to sit online for a fixed shift all day.
- We care primarily about quality, communication, reliability, and hitting deadlines.
- You will need to attend agreed meetings and maintain reasonable overlap with our UK team when required, but outside of this you will have flexibility over how you organise your working hours.
- You'll be joining a small creative team where your work will be seen, tested and reviewed quickly.
- You'll receive direct feedback from experienced Creative Strategists and have the opportunity to take on more responsibility as the company grows.
- This is intended to be a stable, long-term role, not a temporary freelance project.
Compensation
- Salary: $1,000 USD per month
Plus:
- Performance-based bonuses.
- Regular performance and salary reviews.
- Opportunities for increased responsibility and progression as the team grows.
You'll invoice us monthly as an independent contractor and will be responsible for your own tax and BIR registration in the Philippines.

- If you were editing this ad again today, what is one thing you would change and why?
- Tell us about a time you had weak or limited raw footage to work with. What did you do in the edit to make the final ad better?
- Which editing software do you use and how proficient are you with CapCut?
- Are you comfortable creating multiple variations from the same footage and working from creative briefs?
- Confirm your current availability and whether you are comfortable with occasional overlap with UK working hours.
Do not send generic cinematic reels, YouTube edits, or podcast work unless your portfolio also contains paid social or UGC advertising examples.
If you don't have relevant examples, please don't apply.
We're looking for someone who wants to become exceptionally good at performance creative, work with ambitious ecommerce brands and see their edits tested in real advertising accounts every week.
