JOB OVERVIEW

Marketix Digital is an Australian SEO and Search Intelligence agency.

We work with established Australian businesses and are moving further towards mid-market and enterprise clients where SEO needs to connect directly to commercial outcomes, search demand, competitive intelligence and revenue.

We are not looking for someone who simply follows a checklist.

We want someone who understands SEO, can execute well, can learn our systems quickly, and can gradually take ownership of increasingly important work.

You will work closely with our Senior SEO Strategist and Managing Director.

What You Will Be Doing

Initially, your work will include:

SEO Execution
On-page SEO optimisation
Keyword and search intent research
Keyword mapping
Internal linking
Content optimisation and refreshes
Google Search Console analysis
Identifying pages with ranking and traffic opportunities
Competitor and SERP analysis
Basic technical SEO investigation
Supporting implementation of SEO recommendations
Content & Topical Authority
Researching topical clusters
Generating cluster content opportunities
Writing and optimising cluster content
Creating statistics-based content
Researching commercially valuable content topics
Supporting content designed around actual customer and executive decision-making questions
Digital PR & Authority Building
Finding and answering relevant Featured Questions / journalist requests
Guest post prospecting
Outreach and negotiation with websites
Supporting guest article creation
Link opportunity research
Original data and research projects
Reverse digital PR campaigns

We already have SOPs for many of these processes, so you will not be starting without direction.

As you become more capable, we want you to move beyond task execution and begin identifying SEO opportunities yourself.

What We Are Looking For

You should already have practical SEO experience.

Ideally, you have experience with several of the following:

Google Search Console
GA4
Ahrefs
SEMrush
Screaming Frog
WordPress
Keyword research
On-page SEO
Technical SEO
Content optimisation
Internal linking
Link building or digital PR
Competitor analysis

You do not need to be an expert at everything.

What matters more is that you understand how SEO works, can think logically, communicate clearly and improve quickly.

You will probably be a good fit if you:

Think independently rather than waiting for every instruction

Can follow an SOP accurately
Ask intelligent questions when something genuinely isn't clear
Understand search intent rather than just inserting keywords
Can research unfamiliar industries

Can explain why you are recommending something
Want to become considerably better at SEO

We care about quality much more than simply completing a large number of tasks.

What This Role Is Not

This is not a VA role.

It is not a pure content writing role.

It is not a role where you will simply be given keywords and asked to produce articles all day.

We are looking for someone who can develop into a strong SEO practitioner.
