JOB OVERVIEW

About the Role

We run email and SMS marketing for eCommerce brands on Shopify. Email is not a side channel for us — for the brands we manage well, it drives 30–40% of total revenue. This role owns that channel end to end: strategy, copy, design, build, send, and reporting.

This is not a "schedule the newsletter" job. You will d ---------- what gets sent, write it, design it, build it in Klaviyo, and then defend the numbers. If you like owning a P&L-adjacent channel and being measured on revenue rather than activity, you'll do well here.

What You'll Do

Strategy

Build and maintain the monthly email/SMS calendar for each brand you own
Design and maintain the core automated flows: welcome, abandoned cart, abandoned checkout, browse abandonment, post-purchase, winback, replenishment, and VIP
Build segmentation strategy — engaged vs. lapsed, purchase behavior, product affinity, RFM tiers
Run a testing roadmap: subject lines, offers, send times, creative direction, SMS vs. email cadence

Copywriting

Write campaign and flow copy in each brand's voice — subject lines, preview text, body, CTAs, SMS
Adapt tone across very different brands (skincare, food, apparel, pet, supplements) without everything sounding the same
Write in fluent, natural US English. Copy goes out to American consumers with no editing pass, so this is non-negotiable

Design

Design email creative in Figma, Canva, or Photoshop and build it into Klaviyo templates
Work from brand guidelines, product photography, and existing site design to keep everything on-brand
Build mobile-first: assume 70%+ of opens happen on a phone

Technical Execution

Full Klaviyo build-out: flows, triggers, conditional splits, dynamic content, coupon generation, sign-up forms and pop-ups
Shopify ↔ Klaviyo integration, custom events, catalog sync, product blocks
Deliverability management: domain authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), dedicated sending domains, list hygiene, sunset flows, warmup on new accounts
Compliance basics: CAN-SPAM, TCPA for SMS, unsubscribe handling

Analytics & Reporting

Weekly and monthly reporting per brand: revenue attributed, revenue per recipient, open/click/conversion rates, list growth, flow performance
Turn the numbers into a recommendation, not just a screenshot — what changed, why, and what you're doing next
Track results against the prior period and flag problems before they're asked about
What You Need

Required

3+ years running email marketing for eCommerce brands, with at least 2 years in Klaviyo specifically
Hands-on Shopify experience
Portfolio of flows and campaigns you personally built, with performance numbers attached
Native-level written English — you'll be judged on the copy, not the resume
Design capability in Figma, Canva, or Photoshop (you don't need to be a brand designer, but you need to produce clean, on-brand email creative without a designer holding your hand)
Reliable fiber internet (25 Mbps+), a backup connection, and a computer that can run Figma and Klaviyo comfortably
Ability to work US hours and join client or team calls on camera

Nice to Have

Klaviyo Product Certification or Klaviyo Partner experience
Postscript, Attentive, or Klaviyo SMS experience
Agency background managing 3+ brands at once
Basic HTML/CSS for email
Experience with Triple Whale, Northbeam, or GA4 attribution
Retention/CRO experience beyond email (loyalty programs, subscription, reviews)
