Trailer Repair Specialist

GH Logistics and AJG Transport operate a high-performance freight brokerage and asset-based transportation network specializing in dry van and refrigerated freight. If you have experience coordinating equipment repairs, working with drivers and repair vendors, and keeping trailer operations moving during overnight hours, this role provides an opportunity to take ownership of a critical part of our Trailer Management operation.

Role Overview
You are responsible for maintaining overnight control of trailer repair activity and supporting off-tour Trailer Management operations. Your primary responsibility is to coordinate trailer repairs during the night shift, including high-volume on-road repair activity, while ensuring trailer records, repair statuses, documentation, and operational updates remain accurate in real time. You will work closely with the night repair team, drivers, carriers, repair vendors, facility personnel, and the Trailer Management team to keep equipment issues moving toward resolution.

The night team is also responsible for verifying and completing work handed off by the day team and delivering a fully reconciled and accurate board for the incoming day shift. This is an operations and repair coordination position. You will not physically repair trailers and you will not have authority to approve company spending.

What You’ll Be Doing

Overnight Trailer Repair Coordination
• Serve as the primary Trailer Management point of coordination for overnight and on-road trailer repairs, working with drivers, carriers, facilities, roadside providers, mobile mechanics, and repair vendors.
• Review reported trailer defects, gather photos, inspection details, diagnoses, estimates, parts information, and other documentation needed to determine the appropriate next step.
• Coordinate roadside service, mobile repairs, terminal repairs, inspections, trailer swaps, or equipment repositioning and follow up on vendor status, parts availability, completion timelines, and return-to-service expectations.
• Continue follow-up on repairs handed off by the day team until they are resolved or properly documented and returned to the day team.
• Escalate repair costs, safety concerns, major equipment issues, and matters requiring financial approval to authorized leadership; this role has no authority to approve spending.

Fleetio and Data Integrity
• Maintain Fleetio records overnight in real time and enter all repair, trailer, and operational updates handled during the shift.
• Ensure trailer repair statuses, locations, assignments, conditions, and related records remain accurate and current.
• Conduct overnight data integrity checks and investigate missing, outdated, conflicting, or incomplete information.
• Update and maintain records involving misused trailers, partner carrier trailers, repair activity, vendors, and supporting documentation.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies between operational information and system records before the morning handoff whenever possible.

Off-Tour Trailer Operations
• Run the required overnight trailer classification sweep and identify trailers requiring correction, investigation, or follow-up.
• Close operational gaps and unfinished trailer-related work handed off by the day team.
• Assist carriers requiring trailers and coordinate trailer availability, loading, seating, assignments, and related movements.
• Monitor and address trailer concerns that may affect drivers, facilities, customers, freight movement, or equipment availability.
• Handle additional overnight trailer-related tasks and maintain communication with facility personnel and designated internal operational contacts.

Documentation and Morning Handoff
• Maintain complete and organized trailer repair paperwork and supporting documentation throughout the shift.
• Clearly document completed work, pending repairs, vendor responses, equipment concerns, unresolved issues, and required follow-ups.
• Verify items handed off by the day team and document what was completed, remains pending, or requires escalation.
• Ensure every unresolved item has clear ownership, an accurate current status, documented next steps, and a proper handoff.
• Deliver the 8 AM handoff complete and on time, including a reconciled board accurately reflecting trailer locations, statuses, repairs, outstanding issues, and required follow-ups.

What Success Looks Like
• Overnight and on-road trailer repairs are acknowledged quickly, coordinated effectively, and consistently followed through toward resolution.
• Fleetio, trailer classifications, repair records, and other operational data remain accurate and updated in real time throughout the shift.
• Drivers, carriers, vendors, facilities, and internal teams receive timely and clear communication regarding repair and trailer needs.
• Repair documentation, escalations, and unresolved issues are complete, organized, and properly handed off without unauthorized spending decisions.
• The day team receives a complete 8:00 AM handoff with a fully reconciled trailer board showing completed, pending, and escalated items.

Who We’re Looking For
• Experience in trailer management, fleet operations, dispatch, transportation, roadside assistance, or maintenance coordination.
• Knowledge of common trailer repairs, components, equipment defects, and maintenance terminology; repair coordination experience preferred.
• Able to review driver reports, photos, inspections, diagnoses, and estimates, ask the right follow-up questions, and determine appropriate next steps.
• Strong communication, attention to detail, problem-solving, prioritization, and follow-through in a fast-paced overnight operation.
• Comfortable working independently and using Fleetio or similar fleet systems; Samsara, LoadStop, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace experience is a plus.
• Minimum 50 WPM typing speed, strong written and verbal English, and a reliable remote setup with backup internet and power.

Schedule and Work Setup
• Long term and full time remote independent contractor role
• Direct engagement with a US company, not an agency or BPO
• Current shift availability: Tuesday - Saturday 8 PM - 6 AM CDT
• Consistent availability during the assigned US shift is required
• Zoom presence with camera on is required throughout the scheduled shift.
• Time-tracking software is used for attendance, accountability, and performance support.

You will coordinate the response, maintain accurate Fleetio records, follow open repairs, support overnight trailer needs, clean up operational discrepancies, document what happened, and make sure the day team receives a reliable and reconciled picture of the operation every morning.
