MICROSOFT AUTOMATION ENGINEER
Employment Type: Full-Time
Work Arrangement: Remote / Offshore
Department: Automation & Business Systems
Reports To: AI & Business Systems Manager / Senior Management
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Microsoft Automation Engineer who can design, build, integrate, and maintain business automation solutions using the Microsoft ecosystem.
This role is for someone who enjoys turning manual and repetitive business processes into reliable, scalable, and intelligent automated systems.
You will work across Microsoft Power Automate, Power Apps, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Dataverse, Power BI, Copilot Studio, APIs, and AI-powered workflows.
The ideal candidate is not simply a workflow builder. You should understand how systems connect, how data moves between platforms, how APIs work, and how to build automations that are reliable enough for real business operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design and develop automated business processes using Microsoft Power Automate.
• Build cloud flows, approvals, scheduled workflows, event-driven automations, and integrations.
• Develop AI-powered agents and workflows using Microsoft Copilot Studio.
• Connect Microsoft services, third-party applications, and internal systems using APIs and connectors.
• Work with REST APIs, HTTP requests, JSON, webhooks, authentication, and data transformation.
• Build solutions using SharePoint, Microsoft 365, Dataverse, Excel, Teams, Outlook, and other Microsoft services.
• Develop Power Apps when a user interface is required for an automation.
• Integrate automation with Power BI and business reporting workflows when appropriate.
• Design automated document-processing and data-extraction workflows.
• Implement AI-assisted processes using Copilot, Copilot Studio, AI Builder, Azure AI, or related Microsoft AI services.
• Troubleshoot failed flows, API errors, authentication issues, data problems, and integration failures.
• Implement error handling, logging, notifications, retries, and monitoring.
• Follow proper development, testing, deployment, and production practices.
• Document automation architecture, workflows, dependencies, and technical processes.
• Identify manual processes that can be eliminated, simplified, or automated.
• Work with business stakeholders to translate operational requirements into technical automation solutions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Automate.
• Strong understanding of Power Platform.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 services such as SharePoint, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and Excel.
• Experience working with APIs and HTTP requests.
• Understanding of REST APIs, JSON, webhooks, authentication, and data structures.
• Experience with Power Automate expressions and dynamic content.
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug complex workflows.
• Understanding of automation architecture and integration patterns.
• Experience handling errors, retries, exceptions, and failed automation runs.
• Experience working with data from multiple systems.
• Understanding of environment management and deployment practices.
AI & Agent Skills
• Experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio is highly preferred.
• Understanding of AI agents, prompts, tools, knowledge sources, and agent workflows.
• Experience integrating AI into business processes.
• Familiarity with AI Builder, Azure AI, Microsoft 365 Copilot, or similar Microsoft AI technologies is an advantage.
• Ability to identify practical business use cases for AI automation.
DEVELOPMENT & INTEGRATION SKILLS
Candidates should be comfortable working with:
• REST APIs
• HTTP / HTTP actions
• JSON
• Webhooks
• OAuth / API authentication
• Power Automate expressions
• Microsoft Graph API
• JavaScript or Python is a strong advantage
• SQL or database concepts are an advantage
• Git / version control is an advantage
PRODUCTION & ENGINEERING MINDSET
The successful candidate should understand that automation is software used by real people and businesses.
You should be able to:
• Build automations that are reliable and maintainable.
• Design proper error handling and recovery.
• Prevent duplicate processing.
• Validate data before performing actions.
• Handle API failures and rate limits.
• Create reusable components and standardized patterns.
• Test automations before deployment.
