JOB OVERVIEW

Senior AI Commerce Engineer — Shopify & CRO

LowCost AT is a fast-growing Australian eCommerce business.

We are looking for an exceptional senior Shopify engineer who is highly advanced with AI and can take real technical ownership.

This is not a VA role and not a basic Shopify theme role.

You should be strong in:

Shopify / Liquid
JavaScript / TypeScript
HTML / CSS
Metafields / Metaobjects
APIs / Webhooks
Git / GitHub
CRO / mobile UX
Analytics / tracking
AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or equivalent

We want someone who can look at a problem, d ---------- the best solution and build it properly — not someone who needs step-by-step instructions.

What you will work on
improving Shopify conversion
product and collection pages
landing pages
custom sections/components
site speed
mobile UX
CRO testing
analytics/tracking
integrations with our broader technology stack

Strong systems thinking is important.

You should be technically confident enough to challenge a poor approach and explain a better one.

Who should not apply

Please do not apply if:

you mainly install Shopify themes/apps
you are still learning Shopify development
your AI use is basic
you do not use Git
you need detailed instructions for every task

We are looking for someone exceptional, not average.

Hours

10–15 hours/week initially, with significant opportunity to increase.

Long-term role for the right person.

Compensation

Based on capability. We are prepared to pay properly for exceptional talent.

How to apply

Start your application with:

ENGINEER123

Then send:

Your strongest Shopify project and exactly what you personally built.
In 100 words or less, explain how you use AI in your development workflow.
Briefly explain how you would handle Shopify communicating with a custom app and accounting system where order states can change in multiple systems.
If a Shopify store had strong traffic but poor mobile conversion, what would you investigate first?
Your hourly rate and availability.

You may use AI to help with your application, but you must be able to defend your answers live.

Shortlisted candidates will complete a paid practical Shopify task.
