Behavioral Health Medical Billing Specialist – TherapyNotes

Salary: $5.00–$7.00/hour (depending on experience)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 10:00 AM–2:00 PM CDT
Employment: Part-Time


We're hiring an experienced Behavioral Health Medical Billing Specialist to support an established U.S.-based counseling and mental health practice.

The immediate priority is to catch up on outstanding billing and resolve rejected insurance claims using TherapyNotes. We're looking for someone who already has hands-on billing experience and can independently investigate claim issues, follow up with insurance companies, and take claims through resolution.

What You'll Do

* Work through outstanding billing and claims backlogs
* Investigate and resolve rejected or denied insurance claims
* Correct and resubmit claims through TherapyNotes
* Review EOBs and follow up on unpaid or pending claims
* Contact insurance companies for claim status and reimbursement issues
* Track filing deadlines and ensure timely follow-up
* Maintain accurate billing and insurance documentation
* Provide light administrative and monthly reporting support
* Assist with compliance renewals and credentialing as needed

MUST-HAVE Qualifications

Hands-on TherapyNotes billing experience – REQUIRED**
Medical billing and insurance claims processing experience – REQUIRED**
Experience resolving rejected and denied insurance claims**
Experience reviewing EOBs and following up on outstanding claims**
Strong understanding of healthcare insurance and billing workflows
Ability to independently investigate billing discrepancies and determine next steps
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent spoken and written English
Professional phone communication skills
Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality
Proactive, organized, dependable, and comfortable taking ownership of billing issues

Preferred Qualifications

Behavioral health, mental health, counseling, psychology, or psychiatry billing experience**
Provider credentialing and insurance panel enrollment experience
Experience with SAM registration or compliance renewals
Experience supporting a U.S.-based healthcare practice
