## About the Position
We are looking for a proactive and highly organized **Remote Recruiter / Talent Acquisition Specialist** to support recruitment for a Canadian organization.
This is not simply an administrative position.
We need someone who can actively **find qualified candidates, screen applications, conduct initial interviews, verify candidate information, coordinate interviews, and maintain an organized recruitment pipeline.**
You should be comfortable recruiting for positions in areas such as:
* Child and youth services
* Residential support
* Social services
* Healthcare
* Personal support workers
* Nurses
* Developmental service workers
* Child and youth workers
* Management and administrative positions
* Other professional and support positions
## Key Responsibilities
### Candidate Sourcing
* Create and post job advertisements.
* Source candidates through Indeed, LinkedIn, job boards and other recruitment platforms.
* Conduct targeted searches for difficult-to-fill positions.
* Review resumes and applications.
* Identify candidates whose education, experience and qualifications match position requirements.
* Maintain a pipeline of potential candidates for future vacancies.
### Screening & Interviews
* Conduct initial candidate screening.
* Complete telephone or video screening interviews.
* Assess candidates' communication skills, experience, availability and suitability.
* Identify employment gaps or concerns requiring clarification.
* Prepare candidate summaries and recommendations for management.
* Coordinate second interviews with management.
### Recruitment Administration

* Maintain an organized recruitment tracker.
* Track each candidate through the recruitment process.
* Request references and required employment documents.
* Assist with reference checks.
* Assist with employment offers and onboarding documentation.
* Maintain accurate and confidential recruitment records.
### Recruitment Research
You may also be asked to:
* Research Canadian recruitment platforms.
* Identify new sources for qualified candidates.
* Research typical salaries and hourly rates for positions.
* Research qualification requirements for different professions.
* Identify colleges, professional associations and other potential recruitment sources.
* Develop strategies for difficult-to-fill positions.
## What We Are Looking For
We want someone who takes ownership of recruitment.
You should not wait for management to tell you what to do with every application.
You should be able to review a job description, understand the type of candidate required, search for candidates, screen them and present management with a strong shortlist.
A good candidate recommendation should explain:
**“I recommend interviewing this candidate because they meet the education requirement, have three years of relevant experience, have worked with the target population, and their availability matches the position.”**
We want **quality candidates, not simply a large number of resumes.**
## Requirements
* Previous recruitment or talent acquisition experience.
* Excellent written and spoken English.
* Strong interviewing and communication skills.
* Excellent online research skills.
* Experience reviewing resumes.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
* Ability to work independently.
* Comfortable communicating professionally with candidates.
* Experience with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office.
* Reliable computer and internet connection.
Experience recruiting for **Canadian, U.S., UK or Australian employers** is a strong advantage.
Experience recruiting healthcare, social-service, residential-care or community-service professionals is also an asset.
## Performance Expectations
The Recruiter will be expected to maintain an accurate recruitment pipeline showing:
* Position
* Candidate name
* Contact information
* Application date
* Qualifications
* Screening status
* Interview date
* Interview outcome
* Reference-check status
* Documentation status
* Offer status
* Start date
* Follow-up required
Recruitment performance will be assessed based on the **quality and suitability of candidates presented**, responsiveness, organization, accuracy and ability to fill vacancies—not simply the number of applicants contacted.
## HOW TO APPLY
Start your application with:
**CANADA RECRUITER**
Applications that do not begin with these words may not be reviewed.
Please answer the following:
1. How many years of recruitment experience do you have?
2. What types of positions have you recruited for?
3. Have you recruited for Canadian or North American companies?
4. Which recruitment platforms have you used?
5. Have you conducted candidate screening interviews?
6. How do you determine whether a candidate should be shortlisted?
7. Tell us about a difficult position you successfully helped fill.
8. What is your expected hourly rate?
9. What hours are you available to work?
10. Please attach your resume.
## SHORT RECRUITMENT TEST
Imagine you have been asked to recruit a **Residential Support Worker for a Canadian organization supporting children and youth.**
The position requires experience working with vulnerable youth, strong documentation skills, the ability to respond appropriately to challenging behaviours, and the ability to work rotating shifts.
In your application, briefly explain:
1. Where you would look for candidates.
2. What you would look for when reviewing resumes.
3. Five questions you would ask during the initial screening.
4. Three reasons you would reject or not shortlist a candidate.
We are looking at your **recruitment judgment and thought process**, not simply your ability to provide generic answers.
This position has the potential to become a long-term role for the right person.
