JOB OVERVIEW

Remote | One Time Buyout

I am commissioning the sonic identity for my YouTube travel channel. One time project, full buyout, no ongoing commitment on either side.

ABOUT THE CHANNEL
Travel with Schu is a long form travel documentary channel. Real adventures in places most people never go, the food, the people, the corners off the tourist trail. Recent films shot in Lebanon, China and the United States.

WHAT I AM ACTUALLY BUYING
Not a song. A sting. Two to four seconds, one memorable phrase, plus longer bed versions cut from the same motif.

A jingle between cutscenes works because it is identical every single time, not because the underlying music is good. Repetition is the entire mechanism. This is a brand asset in the same category as a logo, and it will be treated as one.

THE REFERENCE
The benchmark is Simon Wilson's channel and his "Honey" sting, composed by David Cutter Music. His audience recognises it within about two seconds, and that recognition comes from playing the identical phrase in every single video, not from the music being complicated. That is exactly the effect I want.

The difference is that his is a free to use library track anyone can license. Mine needs to be original and owned outright, so it belongs to this channel and no other.

Please listen to it before you apply. Match the effect, not the sound. Anything that resembles it directly will be rejected.

THE ONE HARD CONSTRAINT

It has to work over Mississippi and Bali. Anything locked to one region or one genre breaks the moment the channel leaves that place. This is the first filter I will apply and it eliminates most obvious ideas.

DELIVERABLES

2 second stab. Hard transition sting. The workhorse, used between scenes

4 second version. Chapter card and cutscene title. Same motif, resolved ending

15 second bed. Sits under the cold open. Loopable, no hard ending

30 second bed. Optional. Seamless loop for longer setup sections

Stems. Drums, melody and bass delivered as separate files so my editor can strip elements down under dialogue

Format. WAV, 48kHz, 24 bit, plus MP3 reference copies

Motif. Every version derived from one four to six note phrase. Non negotiable

THE FIVE DIRECTIONS I AM SEARCHING AGAINST

Pitch against one of these, or propose your own if you can justify it against the Mississippi and Bali test.

Retro travelogue brass. Muted trumpet, vibraphone, walking bass. Sixties spy lounge, 110 to 130 BPM. Reads instantly as passport and adventure. Risk is tipping into pastiche if the arrangement is busy

Whistle and stomp. Handclaps, tambourine, foot stomp, whistled four note hook, 100 to 120 BPM. Whistling is the stickiest thing a human brain retains and it survives phone speakers at low volume. Risk is that it is heavily used in advertising, so it needs a distinctive interval

Brass fanfare stab. Single horn hit, one deep drum, short tail, two seconds maximum. The bold option, excellent as a Shorts hook. Risk is reading as sports broadcast or news bumper

Warm analog arp. Tape saturated synth arpeggio, four notes, soft attack. Neutral and global, cuts cleanly under a text card without fighting a voiceover. Risk is being genuinely generic

I have already ruled out delta blues and resonator slide as the primary. It sounds excellent but it fails the Mississippi and Bali test.
CONTRACT TERMS
These are not negotiable. Please only apply if you accept all four.

Full buyout. Worldwide, perpetual, all media, all platforms, including monetised YouTube and TikTok, sponsored content and paid advertising

Written confirmation of no third party samples. Every element original or from a cleared royalty free sample library

You must not register the work with Content ID. This is the one that catches people out. Composers routinely register their own catalogue, which then automatically claims videos using music I paid to own. I need this in writing

Exclusivity. You cannot resell or relicense the finished sting to anyone else

You will be credited by name in the description of every video on the channel and on the channel about page.

TIMELINE AND REVISIONS

One to two weeks turnaround. One revision round included. Please price accordingly.
