The role
We're a behavioral health practice in Florida looking for a medical biller, clean claim submission through payment, denials, and aged AR. We're credentialed with BCBS, Anthem, Aetna, UHC/Optum, Evernorth, and TRICARE. If you know how these payers behave with behavioral health claims, you'll hit the ground running.
What you'll own
Submit and scrub claims in TherapyNotes; fix rejections same-day
Work aged AR by bucket (30/60/90/120+)
Manage denials end-to-end: root-cause, appeal, resubmit, collect
Payer follow-up by phone and portal Availity, Optum/Provider Express
Verify eligibility and track authorizations before sessions
Review ERAs/EOBs, post payments, flag underpayments and wrong contracted rates
Catch behavioral-health-specific issues: 90837 downcoding, telehealth POS/modifiers, EAP vs. standard benefits, COB
Weekly report: claims submitted, denials by reason, AR aging, dollars recovered
A Plus to have: credentialing support (CAQH, NPPES, re-attestations)
What we need
2+ years US medical billing with AR follow-up behavioral health strongly preferred
TherapyNotes experience, or a comparable behavioral health EHR
Solid behavioral health CPT, modifier, and place-of-service knowledge
Direct experience with at least three of our payers
Proven reduction in days-in-AR or denial rate
Strong spoken and written English; confident on payer calls
HIPAA-trained; reliable computer, backup internet, quiet private workspace
What you get
Stable long-term full-time role, consistent hours
