JOB OVERVIEW

We are an Australian architecture and design studio based on the Gold Coast looking for experienced CAD Drafters / Architectural Technicians to assist with ongoing retail and hospitality projects across Australia.

We currently work with established retail brands and design agencies and expect to have multiple projects running at the same time, so we are looking to build a small pool of 2–3 reliable and highly capable drafters who we can work with regularly on a project-by-project basis.

This is not a one-off job. Successful candidates may receive consistent ongoing work depending on project volume, quality, communication and availability.

Typical work includes:
- Retail fitout construction documentation
- Floor plans, RCPs and finishes plans
- Internal elevations and sections
- Shopfront details
- Joinery and detailed drawings
- Existing / demolition / proposed plans
- Construction details
- Coordination with consultant drawings
- Updating drawings from markups
- Developing site-specific drawing packages from established concept/design documentation
- Checking drawings for missing information and coordination issues

Essential Experience

We are specifically looking for people with:
- Strong professional AutoCAD skills
- Experience documenting Australian retail, hospitality or commercial projects
- Good understanding of Australian construction documentation standards
- Strong joinery and interior detailing experience
- Ability to understand a design package and develop it into construction documentation
- Ability to coordinate consultant information
- Strong attention to dimensions, notes, levels and drawing consistency
- Ability to work independently and raise questions when information is missing
- Good written and spoken English
- Reliable communication and ability to meet agreed deadlines

Previous experience working with Australian architects, interior designers, retail designers or fitout contractors is strongly preferred.

What We Are Looking For

We are not simply looking for CAD operators who follow redlines.

We want experienced people who can understand how a retail project will actually be built, identify coordination problems, suggest solutions where appropriate and take responsibility for producing a high-quality drawing package.

How the Work Will Operate

Projects will generally be offered individually with:
- Project brief and reference documentation
- Expected deliverables
- Agreed deadline
- Agreed fixed project fee or hourly allowance

We may initially give shortlisted candidates a small paid trial project or portion of a drawing package.

The strongest candidates will become part of our preferred drafting team and may receive several projects per month depending on workload.
