JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Health & Medical News Writer to join our growing editorial team. This role focuses on health news, medical developments, scientific research, wellness, nutrition, symptoms and conditions, mental health, fitness, NHS-related topics, and major health stories affecting the public.

The ideal candidate has a strong interest in health and medicine, understands the importance of evidence-based reporting, and can quickly turn complex medical and scientific developments into clear, accurate, engaging, and accessible news articles.

This role is ideal for someone who can identify compelling health stories while maintaining responsible reporting standards and carefully distinguishing established evidence from emerging research, expert opinion, and anecdotal claims.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM (Philippine Time)

Key Responsibilities

> Write original health and medical news articles during the weekday shift
> Cover topics including medical breakthroughs, health research, symptoms and conditions, nutrition, wellness, mental health, fitness, NHS developments, public health, and medical treatments
> Monitor breaking health news, scientific developments, medical research, social media platforms, Reddit, and trending health discussions for potential story ideas
> Identify emerging health topics, studies, public concerns, and viral claims that can be developed into accurate and engaging news stories
> Research stories using credible medical, scientific, government, NHS, academic, and news sources
> Review research papers and studies and accurately explain their findings, limitations, and significance
> Fact-check all medical, scientific, and health-related information before submission
> Seek relevant expert commentary or professional perspectives when appropriate
> Clearly distinguish between established medical evidence, emerging research, expert opinion, personal experiences, and unverified claims
> Write clear, engaging, and well-structured articles for a broad audience
> Create compelling, SEO-friendly headlines with strong click-through potential without misleading readers
> Follow editorial guidelines and maintain high standards of accuracy and responsible health reporting
Meet daily publishing deadlines and maintain consistent article output

Requirements:

> At least 2 years of experience in health writing, medical journalism, science writing, journalism, blogging, or digital publishing
> Strong English writing and grammar skills
> Good understanding of health, medicine, science, wellness, nutrition, and public health topics
> Strong ability to research and interpret medical and scientific information
> Ability to quickly identify newsworthy health stories and angles that are relevant to readers
> Skilled in researching and verifying information using credible medical, scientific, academic, government, and news sources
> Must have an active Reddit account
> Must have a good understanding of how Reddit works, including subreddits, discussions, comments, upvotes, and trending topics
> Must be comfortable monitoring and participating in relevant Reddit communities
> Must be able to post on Reddit and understand how to engage appropriately with relevant communities
> Ability to independently verify information discovered on Reddit before using it in an article
> Understanding of the importance of responsible reporting when covering medical conditions, treatments, medications, and health claims
> Ability to simplify complex medical and scientific topics into clear, reader-friendly content without losing accuracy
> Comfortable covering breaking news and fast-moving health and science developments
> Able to work independently and manage daily article production
> Experience with online publishing platforms or CMS is a plus

Preferred Qualifications:

> Experience writing for health, medical, science, wellness, lifestyle, or news publications
> Degree or educational background in journalism, communications, health sciences, medicine, science, or a related field is a plus
> Experience covering medical research, clinical studies, NHS topics, public health, or healthcare developments
> Active or established Reddit account with familiarity across relevant health, science, medical, wellness, or lifestyle subreddits
> Experience finding story ideas through Reddit, social media, research databases, and online communities
> Knowledge of SEO and digital publishing best practices
> Familiarity with Google Trends and other news discovery tools
