JOB OVERVIEW

Saturday & Sunday | £40 per day (£80 per weekend) | Remote

We are looking for an exceptionally organised, detail-oriented person who takes ownership.

We run multiple comedy shows across London every weekend, and we're looking for someone who can help keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

This is NOT a passive admin role.

We need someone who notices things without being told, follows instructions precisely, communicates frequently, asks questions when something isn't clear, works quickly and tells us immediately when something needs attention.

If you're the type of person who finishes a task and waits for someone to tell you what to do next, this probably isn't the right role for you.

If you're the type of person who thinks:

"I've noticed something doesn't look right — I'd better check it."

"I'm not 100% sure what this instruction means, so I'll ask before doing it incorrectly."

"That's been dealt with, so I'll update the relevant system and move on to the next thing."

Then we'd like to hear from you.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

You'll help monitor and manage the operational side of our weekend comedy shows.

-Checking show listings

You'll check our shows across multiple ticketing platforms, including Ticket Tailor, Eventbrite, Dice, Fever and others.

You'll need to spot small discrepancies such as:

* Incorrect dates
* Incorrect show times
* Incorrect venues
* Incorrect ticket prices
* Incorrect descriptions
* Missing information
* Incorrect links
* Incorrect ticket availability
* Missing images
* Other inconsistencies between platforms

Small details matter.

We use step-by-step processes for these checks, and we expect every part of the process to be completed.

-Monitoring ticket sales

You'll monitor how our shows are selling throughout the weekend and make sure our internal records remain accurate.

You'll need to notice when something requires attention rather than simply checking a box and moving on.

-Customer emails

You'll respond to customer enquiries about things such as:

* Tickets
* Show times
* Locations
* Accessibility
* Refunds
* Group bookings
* General questions

You'll have templates and processes to follow, but you need to be able to read a customer's question carefully and understand what they're actually asking.

-Last-minute comedian changes

Comedians sometimes cancel shortly before a show.

You'll help with things such as:

* Contacting replacement comedians
* Updating lineups
* Updating relevant systems
* Informing the appropriate people
* Checking that nothing else has been affected by a change

You don't need comedy industry experience, but you do need to be able to stay calm and work through a problem logically.

-Checking show operations

You'll check that the correct comedians and showrunners are confirmed and flag potential problems before they become urgent.

For example:

If a show is happening that evening and you notice that one comedian hasn't confirmed, we expect you to recognise that as a problem and take the appropriate next step.

You shouldn't need to wait for us to notice it first.

-Reviews and online listings

You'll monitor reviews, check that shows are displaying correctly online and flag anything that needs attention.

-Updating our systems

You'll keep ClickUp, Google Sheets and our other systems up to date.

Accuracy is extremely important.

HOW WE WORK

We provide training and detailed step-by-step instructions for our regular processes.

However, we're looking for someone who can become genuinely independent once trained.

That means:

Follow the instructions.

If the process has six steps, complete all six.

Ask questions.

If you don't understand something, ask rather than guessing.

Communicate.

We want regular updates during your working hours. If you're stuck, tell us. If you've finished something, let us know. If you've noticed a problem, flag it.

Be proactive.

If you notice something that needs attention, don't simply leave it because nobody specifically asked you to deal with it.

Check your work.

Don't assume something is correct just because it looks right at first glance.

Work quickly.

There can be several shows and tasks happening at the same time, so you need to be able to prioritise and keep moving without losing accuracy.

Own your mistakes.

Everyone makes mistakes. If you make one, tell us immediately. We would much rather know straight away so we can fix it than discover it later.

THE PERSON WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The most important thing is how you work, not your job title or previous VA experience.

You should be:

Extremely detail-oriented

You notice small errors that other people miss.

A strong communicator

Your written English needs to be excellent. You communicate clearly and don't disappear when you're working on something.

Proactive

You don't need someone constantly checking on you or telling you what to do next.

Good at following instructions

You can follow a detailed process accurately without skipping steps.

Comfortable asking questions

You don't guess when something is unclear.

Fast and organised

You can manage multiple tasks without becoming overwhelmed or forgetting things.

Naturally curious

If something doesn't make sense, you investigate it rather than ignoring it.

Dependable

When you're working, we need to know that you're actually available and paying attention.

Calm under pressure

Last-minute changes happen in live events. You need to be able to think clearly when something goes wrong.

Honest

If you've made a mistake, missed something or don't understand something, tell us.

THIS ROLE MAY NOT SUIT YOU IF...

* You prefer to be given one task at a time.
* You tend to wait for instructions rather than looking for what needs doing.
* You don't like asking questions.
* You sometimes skim instructions.
* You find repetitive checking boring.
* You struggle to notice small differences.
* You don't regularly check messages while working.
* You are uncomfortable admitting when you've made a mistake.
* You need frequent supervision.
* You aren't confident communicating in English.

We would rather hire someone with no VA experience who is exceptionally switched-on than someone with five years of VA experience who doesn't pay attention.

PAY & HOURS

£40 per day / £80 per weekend

Saturday & Sunday

Remote.

You will need to be available and responsive during your agreed working hours, as our shows take place throughout the weekend.

Payment is made weekly.

REQUIREMENTS

* Excellent written and spoken English
* Exceptional attention to detail
* Strong organisation and time management
* Able to follow detailed instructions accurately
* Able to work independently once trained
* Proactive and comfortable taking ownership
* Fast and responsive
* Comfortable communicating frequently during working hours
* Comfortable using Google Sheets
* Able to learn new online systems quickly
* Reliable computer and internet connection
* Backup plan for internet/power problems
* Consistent availability on Saturdays and Sundays
* Willing to learn ClickUp, Ticket Tailor, Eventbrite, and other systems

Previous VA or comedy experience is not required.

HOW TO APPLY

Please read this section carefully.

We are not looking for a generic VA application.

Your application will tell us a lot about how carefully you read instructions and how you communicate.

Please answer all six questions:

1. Why do you think this role would suit the way you naturally work?

2. Tell us about a time you spotted a mistake, inconsistency or problem that someone else had missed. What did you notice, and what did you do?

3. Imagine there are four comedy shows happening tonight. Two hours before one show, a comedian messages saying they can no longer attend. At the same time, you have other tasks to complete. Talk us through exactly what you would do.

4. Imagine you've been given a six-step process to check a show listing. You complete the first five steps and then realise you're unsure what you're supposed to do for step six. What would you do?

5. Tell us about your internet connection and what you would do if your internet or electricity stopped working while you were supposed to be working.

6. Are you consistently available to work Saturdays and Sundays? Please state your usual available hours.

Please don't use a generic or obviously copy-and-pasted VA application.

We're much more interested in how you think, how carefully you read instructions and how clearly you communicate than how impressive your CV sounds.

To show us that you've read the full advert, put the word MILKSHAKE in the subject line of your application.

Applications without this will not be considered.

Shortlisted applicants will be asked to complete a short practical task before we make a final decision.

Please use 7 AP points to apply.
