JOB OVERVIEW

Hickey Marketing Group is looking for an experienced Off-Page SEO Specialist to join our team.

We’re a digital marketing agency working with clients in different industries, and we’re looking for someone who can take ownership of the off-page side of SEO and work alongside our on-page SEO, content, and web development teams.

We’re looking for someone with actual hands-on experience in link building. We don't want hundreds of backlinks just for the sake of having them. We want someone who knows how to research a client, look at their competitors, find good opportunities, and build links that actually make sense for the business.

What you'll be doing:

→ Researching and building quality backlinks for our clients
→ Finding link opportunities based on the client's industry, location, and competitors
→ Reaching out to relevant websites, publications, organizations, local businesses, and potential partners
→ Managing local citations and keeping business information consistent
→ Reviewing existing backlinks and identifying low-quality or spammy links
→ Researching competitor backlinks and finding opportunities we may be missing
→ Tracking backlinks, including the source, target page, anchor text, date completed, and current status
→ Checking that previously built backlinks are still live
→ Monitoring rankings and off-page SEO performance
→ Helping investigate ranking drops or changes that may be related to off-page SEO
→ Providing recommendations on what should be worked on next
→ Keeping clear records of completed, pending, and planned work
→ Communicating with our on-page SEO, content, and web development teams when needed

What we're looking for:

You should already have hands-on experience with Off-Page SEO and be comfortable working independently without needing step-by-step instructions.

You should have a good understanding of:

→ Link building
→ Backlink quality and relevance
→ Anchor text strategy
→ Competitor backlink analysis
→ Competitor research
→ Guest posting
→ Outreach and link acquisition
→ Broken-link building
→ Brand mentions and unlinked mention opportunities
→ Digital PR
→ Local SEO
→ Business listings and citations
→ Online reputation management
→ Backlink monitoring
→ Backlink audits
→ Relationship building for link opportunities
→ Identifying spammy or potentially harmful backlinks
→ How off-page SEO works together with on-page SEO and content

Experience with tools such as Moz, Ahrefs, SEMrush, BrightLocal, Google Search Console, or similar SEO tools is preferred. You don't need to know every tool, but you should be comfortable using SEO data to make decisions.

Being organized is also important. We work with multiple clients, so we need someone who properly tracks their work and can clearly show us what's been completed, what's pending, and what they plan to work on next.

One important thing:

We are not looking for someone whose entire link-building strategy is submitting websites to hundreds of directories. Directories and citations can be useful, especially for local SEO, but they shouldn't be the whole strategy. We would rather have fewer quality and relevant backlinks than hundreds of random links that don't provide any real value to the client.

How to Apply

Please send us:

→ A short introduction about yourself
→ Your Off-Page SEO experience
→ How many years you've been working in SEO
→ Examples of backlinks you've personally acquired
→ Examples of SEO campaigns or websites you've worked on
→ The SEO tools you're familiar with
→ An example of a backlink tracking sheet or report you've used before (you can remove any private client information)
→ Your availability and preferred working hours
→ Your expected salary/rate

Please use the subject line: Off-Page SEO – [Your Name]

And please answer this question in your application:

If we gave you a local business website that has already been optimized on-page but is still struggling with rankings, what would you look at and what would you work on first?

We're looking for someone who knows how to do the work, keeps things organized, communicates well with the rest of the team, and is willing to take ownership of their responsibilities.
