Graphic Designer for Professional Ballet Company — Project-Based
We are looking for a talented Graphic Designer to work with a professional contemporary ballet company based in the United States.
Our organization brings together professional dance, visual art, music, storytelling, and immersive experiences to create performances that feel fresh, bold, and relevant to today’s audiences. We are looking for a designer who can translate that same energy into our visual marketing.
This is a project-based position with the opportunity for consistent ongoing work for the right person.
What You'll Create
Projects may include:
Social media graphics and campaigns
Performance and event flyers
Printed handouts and promotional materials
Media and press kits
Sponsorship materials
Merchandise and apparel graphics
Event signage and collateral
Digital advertisements
Other creative assets for performances, events, fundraising campaigns, and special projects
The Design Style We're Looking For
We are not looking for generic corporate graphics or basic template-based designs.
Our ideal designer has a strong eye for:
Bold, modern design
Editorial-style layouts
Strong typography
Creative use of photography
Contemporary arts and culture branding
High-end but unexpected visual concepts
Designs that feel artistic while still clearly communicating information
You should be comfortable receiving a creative direction, brand assets, photography, and copy and turning them into a polished final concept.
We also value someone who can bring their own creative ideas to a project rather than simply executing exactly what is provided.
Ideal Candidate
You should:
Have a strong graphic design portfolio
Be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and/or comparable professional design software
Understand both digital and print design
Know how to properly prepare files for professional printing
Be comfortable creating multiple sizes/formats from one campaign
Have excellent attention to detail
Be able to meet agreed-upon deadlines
Communicate clearly and respond reliably
Be comfortable working independently on a project basis
Experience designing for performing arts, fashion, luxury, hospitality, museums, galleries, entertainment, or cultural organizations is a plus, but not required.
How to Apply
Please send:
A link to your portfolio
3–5 examples of work that best represent your design style
Your typical availability and turnaround time
Your project-based or hourly rate
A brief introduction about yourself
To make sure you've read the entire job post, please also answer this question in your application:
What's one thing you love about ballet, dance, or the performing arts?
Applications that do not answer this question will not be considered.
We are looking for someone we can build an ongoing creative relationship with, so if your style aligns with ours, there will be opportunities for additional projects throughout the season.
