We are seeking a senior, full-time bookkeeper or staff accountant to maintain the books year-round for a portfolio of U.S. real estate ownership and private lending/debt partnerships.
The immediate priority is completing catch-up and cleanup work for the September 15 tax deadline. After that, this will be a stable, long-term role responsible for accurate monthly bookkeeping and tax-ready year-end records.
IMPORTANT: This position uses HOSTED QUICKBOOKS DESKTOP. Candidates whose experience is limited to QuickBooks Online will not qualify.
Responsibilities
• Maintain multiple partnership company files in hosted QuickBooks Desktop
• Complete monthly bank and credit-card reconciliations
• Reconcile lender and loan-servicing statements
• Maintain loan rollforwards and properly record principal, interest, accrued interest, escrow and fees
• Record real estate purchases, sales and refinancing transactions from closing statements
• Track partner contributions and distributions, intercompany and related-party activity
• Maintain fixed-asset, construction/rehabilitation and other balance-sheet schedules
• Review the general ledger, investigate unusual balances and correct bookkeeping errors
• Prepare clean trial balances, financial statements and supporting workpapers for the U.S. tax preparer
• Maintain a clear open-items list and communicate missing information promptly
• Meet monthly close deadlines and document work consistently
Required Experience
• Strong hands-on QuickBooks Desktop experience; Accountant or Enterprise experience preferred
• Experience working through a hosted Windows or remote-desktop environment
• At least 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience supporting U.S. businesses
• Direct experience with U.S. real estate entities, partnerships or private lending
• Strong understanding of balance-sheet reconciliations and double-entry accounting
• Advanced Excel skills
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Reliable computer, internet connection and backup internet
• Able to work independently, manage multiple entities and communicate questions proactively
Preferred
• Accounting degree or Philippine CPA
• Experience with multi-entity real estate portfolios
• Experience producing tax-ready year-end bookkeeping packages
• Experience with debt funds, private loans or mortgage servicing
Schedule
• Full-time, 40 hours per week
• Some overlap with U.S. business hours is required; exact schedule will be discussed
• Long-term position for the right person
Compensation
$2,000–$2,500 USD per month (approximately PHP 123,000–154,000 at the current exchange rate), based on directly relevant QuickBooks Desktop, U.S. real estate and debt-accounting experience.
