Strategy Manager — Research & Marketing Strategy

About the Role
If you are the person who reads three sources when one would do—and cannot let a “because that's how it works in this industry” go unchecked, this role may be for you.
**Rohring Results** is a US-based marketing agency providing **SEO, Google & Meta Ads, social media, content, creative,
We are hiring a **Strategy Manager** to own the strategic direction behind our client work.
This is **not a single-channel marketing role**. You will connect research, positioning, SEO, paid advertising, social media, content,
More importantly:
**This is a research job with a strategy title.**
Your job is to find out what is actually true about a market, a buyer, a competitive landscape, and a client's position—and then determine what the client should do about it.
When the research is strong, everything downstream becomes stronger. When the research is shallow, every channel can end up confidently solving the wrong problem.
What You'll Actually Do
1. Lead Client Strategy
You will own the strategy for new clients, including:
* Developing the overall marketing strategy and direction
* Connecting multiple channels into one integrated plan
* Identifying the client's biggest growth opportunities
* Determining what should be prioritized and why
* Translating research into clear strategic recommendations
* Making sure SEO, paid, social, content,
2. Conduct Deep Marketing Research
You will personally conduct or direct research involving:
* Buyer and audience research
* Customer personas
* Competitive analysis
* Industry and market research
* Brand positioning
* Audience research for paid campaigns
* Competitor messaging and offer analysis
* Market trends and opportunities
We are looking for someone who actually **does the research**, not someone who simply delegates it.
You should be able to take a research project, explain your methodology, show your sources, challenge your assumptions, and explain how you determined that your conclusions were reliable.
3. Build Brand Foundations
Many of our clients do not have clearly defined brand guidelines or positioning.
You will help establish:
* Brand positioning
* Differentiation
* Target audience
* Brand voice
* Key messaging
* Value propositions
* Messaging angles
Our copywriters and designers will use these strategic foundations to create the actual deliverables.
**You don't need to be the person writing every headline. You need to know which headline should exist and why.**
4. Review and Approve Content & Creative
You will have real strategic authority over work before it reaches the client.
You will:
* Review content and creative deliverables
* Identify when something does not align with strategy
* Give clear and actionable feedback
* Approve or reject work before client delivery
* Explain *why* something needs to change
* Ensure the final output reflects the research and strategy
You should be comfortable telling someone, including someone who does not report to you, that their work is not ready—and giving them enough direction to fix it.
5. Direct
You will determine:
* Target audience
* Campaign objective
* Offer
* Messaging angle
* Sequence
* Call to action
Our copywriter will write the
**You provide the strategic brief and approve the final work.**
6. Analyze Client Performance
You will produce and review client performance reports using AI-assisted tools.
But generating a report is only the beginning.
You will need to determine:
* What actually happened?
* Why did it happen?
* Which numbers matter?
* Which numbers are misleading?
* What changed from the previous period?
* What should we do next?
* Does the data actually support the story the report is telling?
We need someone who can **question the report, not just format it.**

AI Is a Major Part of This Role
Every agency says it uses AI.
Here's what we actually mean.
Our teams already use AI to draft, research, brainstorm, and refine work. That is not what makes this position different.
**Your job is to be exceptionally good at getting reliable information out of AI tools—and knowing when the information is wrong.**
You will be expected to:
* Frame research questions that produce specific, useful answers rather than generic summaries
* Build effective prompts and research workflows
* Iterate instead of accepting the first response
* Cross-check AI-generated information
* Identify unsupported claims and hallucinations
* Understand what an AI model can and cannot reliably know
* Know when AI should **not** be used
* Use primary sources, customer reviews, forums, sales calls, interviews, analytics, and other sources when appropriate
* Turn research into documented, reusable strategic resources
**Anyone can get an answer from AI. We need someone who can determine whether the answer is actually true.**
During the hiring process, we may assess this skill directly.
If you can describe a time when an AI tool gave you an answer that *looked correct but wasn't*—and explain how you caught it—we want to hear about it.

What You'll Own
* Overall marketing strategy for new clients
* Integrated multi-channel strategy
* Market and industry research
* Buyer and audience research
* Competitive analysis
* Brand positioning and differentiation
* Customer personas
* Paid advertising audience strategy
* Content and creative direction
* Content and creative approval
*
* Client performance reporting
* Strategic recommendations based on performance data
* Ongoing independent research
* Documentation of research methods and strategic frameworks
Dedicated Research Time
A portion of every week will be protected for **research that is not tied to a specific client**.
This is intentional.
We want someone who actively studies markets, competitors, technology, consumer behavior, marketing trends, and emerging opportunities.
Nobody will necessarily be waiting for the output.
That's the point.
You need to be the kind of person who can take unstructured time and turn it into something valuable.
