SHYU socks is looking for a talented Performance Marketing Specialist to join our team and work closely with our Head of Marketing.
We're an e-commerce brand advertising primarily across Meta and Google, and we're looking for someone who can help us manage, optimise and grow our paid acquisition.
This is initially a part-time role of approximately 20-25 hours per week, with the opportunity for the role to grow as SHYU socks grows.
We're open to discussing how those hours are structured. What's most important to us is finding the right person who can take genuine ownership of performance.
This role is ideal for someone who is confident inside Meta and Google Ads, but also enjoys looking at the bigger picture.
We care about profitable growth, not simply what Ads Manager says our ROAS is.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Your main focus will be the day-to-day management and optimisation of our Meta and Google advertising.
You'll work closely with our Head of Marketing, with plenty of opportunity to share ideas and make recommendations.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing and optimising Meta and Google Ads campaigns
Building, scheduling and launching new campaigns
Monitoring performance and budget pacing
Making ongoing campaign optimisations
Identifying campaigns that have the potential to scale
Recommending when budgets should be increased, decreased or reallocated
Analysing creative performance and identifying creative fatigue
Helping identify what types of creative we should test next
Monitoring Google search terms, keywords and campaign performance
Checking tracking, attribution and campaign setup
Producing clear weekly performance reports
Explaining what is changing, why you think it's happening and what you recommend doing next
As we build trust and you become familiar with the business, we'd like you to have increasing ownership and autonomy over our paid acquisition.
LOOKING BEYOND THE ADVERTISING PLATFORMS
One of the things that's important to us is understanding the whole e-commerce picture.
We're looking for someone who understands metrics such as:
MER
CAC / CPA
ROAS
AOV
Conversion Rate
LTV
Contribution Margin
You don't need to personally implement every change across the website, but we'd love you to identify opportunities and bring ideas to the team.
For example, you might notice an opportunity to:
Increase AOV through bundles or multi-buy offers
Test a different free-shipping threshold
Improve the conversion rate of a landing or product page
Send traffic towards a higher-performing product or offer
Improve first-order customer economics
Scale a campaign that's performing particularly well
Test a new audience, campaign structure or creative angle
Identify why performance has suddenly improved or declined
We want someone who's naturally curious about the numbers and enjoys asking:
"Why is this happening, and what could we test to improve it?"
WORKING WITH OUR HEAD OF MARKETING
You'll work directly with our Head of Marketing, who oversees the broader marketing strategy, creative direction and priorities.
However, we don't want you to feel that your job is simply to follow instructions.
We genuinely welcome ideas and recommendations.
If you think we should increase a campaign budget, we'd like you to tell us.
If you think an offer isn't working, tell us.
If you spot an opportunity to increase AOV or conversion rate, we'd love to hear it.
And if you disagree with something we're doing or think there's a better approach, we're happy for you to say so.
We're looking for someone who can become a trusted part of the marketing team and who enjoys contributing ideas as well as executing them.
ABOUT YOU
You'll ideally have:
Strong hands-on experience with Meta Ads
Good hands-on experience with Google Ads
Experience working with e-commerce / DTC businesses
Experience managing meaningful advertising budgets
A good understanding of MER, CAC, ROAS, AOV and conversion rate
Strong analytical skills
An understanding of creative testing and creative fatigue
An understanding of e-commerce conversion optimisation
Confidence making recommendations based on data
Good attention to detail
Clear written and spoken English
A proactive and organised approach to your work
You don't need to know everything.
We're much more interested in someone who has strong fundamentals, is curious, asks good questions and wants to keep improving.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Over time, we'd like you to develop a strong understanding of SHYU socks, our products and our customers.
We want you to be able to look at our performance and confidently tell us things like:
"This campaign is performing well and I think we have room to increase the budget."
"CPA has increased over the last two weeks. I've looked into it and I think this is what's causing it."
"Our ads are performing well, but I think there's an opportunity to improve AOV by testing this offer."
The goal is for you to become someone our Head of Marketing can trust to help manage and grow our paid acquisition.
HOW TO APPLY
We'd love to learn a little about your experience and how you think.
When applying, please answer the five questions below in your own words. We're much more interested in your experience and approach than receiving a perfectly written application.
Tell us briefly about your experience managing Meta and Google Ads for e-commerce brands.
What approximate monthly advertising budgets have you personally managed?
Tell us about one campaign or account that you improved. What did you notice, what did you change, and what happened?
How do you think about metrics such as MER, CAC, AOV and conversion rate when d
Tell us about an opportunity you've identified outside the advertising platform that helped improve performance - for example an offer, bundle, landing page, conversion rate or AOV improvement.
Please start your application with the word "SHYU" so we know you've read the full description.
