JOB OVERVIEW

I'm looking for a video editor (20 hours/week) to cut short-form videos about AI, semiconductors, energy and finance for TikTok and Instagram Reels.

These are explainer videos, not entertainment. I record myself on camera walking through a story, usually 2 to 6 minutes. You turn that into something a general audience watches to the end.

I'll send the raw footage and the script. What ends up on screen is your call. I want to hand this over and not be involved in the edit.

The work:

Cut the talking-head footage tight, without making the delivery sound clipped
D ---------- what b-roll the story needs and source it yourself
Find clips of the people the script mentions, usually from podcasts or interviews. Occasionally I'll send one
Build simple on-screen graphics: a figure, a basic chart, a comparison, a map

You should know TikTok and understand American culture. My audience is American and the pacing and references need to land for them.

Two things matter more than polish:

The first one to two seconds d ---------- whether the video gets watched. Motion or a hard cut in frame one, never a static shot of me sitting down
Any number on screen has to match what I said. Ask if you're unsure
