JOB OVERVIEW

We run YouTube Shorts channels in the "Ranking" format: 20-25 second vertical videos that rank the funniest moments of a topic from #6 to #1. Examples: "Ranking Funniest Dog Moments", "Ranking Funniest Fails", "Ranking Funniest Cat Moments". Reference channels will be shared with you on day one.

You will own the full video: find the clips, edit them in CapCut, and deliver a finished Short with a thumbnail. This is a long-term full-time position. You will work directly with the owner and report through a Google Sheet.

DAILY TASKS

1. Competitor research (30 min): check our list of 20 competitor channels, log every new video from the last 7 days with its views in Google Sheets, flag topics that are getting big views.

2. Topic selection: pick 2 topics per day from competitor data and our topic backlog.

3. Clip sourcing (core task): for each topic, find 10-15 candidate clips on TikTok, Reddit (r/aww, r/funny, r/AnimalsBeingDerps, etc.), Instagram, YouTube. Select the best 6. For every clip record: source URL, creator name, exact 2-4 second segment (start/end time), and a 1-5 "how funny" score.

4. Ranking: order the 6 clips from #6 to #1 (best last) and write a 2-3 word caption for each (example: "Trash Panda Heist").

5. Download the clips without watermark. File naming: topic_06.mp4 ... topic_01.mp4.

6. Editing in CapCut: build one 20-25 second vertical video (1080x1920) using our template style:
- countdown overlay on the left (6 to 1) that updates with each clip
- title text at the top ("Ranking Funniest [Topic] Moments", key word in yellow)
- zoom/keyframe on the key moment of each clip
- sound effects on cuts and a trending or fitting background sound
- fast, clean cuts, no dead time, best clip last
- optional reaction word on 1-2 clips ("NO WAY", "damn")

7. Thumbnail: export the strongest frame with the title text, 1080x1920 PNG.

8. Delivery: upload MP4 + thumbnail to Google Drive, update the sheet with all clip sources and file links.

9. Metrics: once a day, log 24h and 7d views of published videos in the sheet.

TARGET OUTPUT
2 finished videos per day (12 selected clips), delivered by 3pm US Eastern Time, Monday to Saturday.

REQUIREMENTS
- Strong CapCut skills: transitions, sound effects, zoom/keyframes, text overlays, exporting 1080x1920. Send 2-3 examples of Shorts you edited.
- You watch a lot of TikTok / YouTube Shorts and have a strong sense of what is funny for a US audience.
- Fluent written English (captions and titles must sound natural).
- Very organized: Google Sheets, file naming, daily logging without reminders.
- Can follow a written SOP exactly and suggest improvements.
- At least 4 hours overlap with 9am-6pm US Eastern Time.
- Stable internet and a computer that handles CapCut desktop.

NICE TO HAVE
- Experience working on a faceless YouTube channel or Shorts page (share the link).
- Experience with yt-dlp or other video downloaders.
- Basic understanding of YouTube Shorts analytics (retention, swipe-away).

PAY
$300/month for 40 hours/week, paid weekly. Raise to $400 after 30 days if targets are met (2 videos/day on time, sheet always up to date). Monthly bonus based on channel views once monetized. Long-term role with the option to manage a second channel at higher pay.

HOW TO APPLY
1. Write the word OTTER at the top of your application.
2. One paragraph about your experience with short-form content and CapCut.
3. Links to 2-3 Shorts/TikToks you edited and any channels you worked on.
4. Your available hours in US Eastern Time.
5. Your internet speed and computer specs (one line).

Applications without OTTER or without editing samples will not be reviewed.

Shortlisted applicants receive a paid test task ($15, about 3 hours): find 6 clips and edit one finished "Ranking Funniest Dog Fails" video in our style.
