Are you the kind of editor who can hear the story inside messy footage? Do you notice the pause that makes a joke land, the sentence that should open the video, or the tiny visual choice that makes a piece feel unmistakably like one creator? If you want creative ownership and the chance to help build a recognizable visual world, keep reading. This might be the perfect role for you.
About the Role
I’m a creator, storyteller, strategist, and new mom rebuilding my personal brand, DashaLikeSasha. I need a creative video editor who can help turn raw footage and rough cuts into videos people want to finish and remember.
I will provide the vision, story context, and brand materials, but I am not looking to direct every cut. You are the editing expert. I want you to understand the story and the brand, then use your skill set to make creative choices I may not have considered.
My visual world is influenced by scrapbook and collage art, nostalgic textures, and mixed media. It should feel creative, distinctive, refined, real, and purposeful without becoming cluttered or distracting from the story. I do not want generic creator videos that could belong to anyone. I also do not want constant effects simply to prove editing happened. The goal is polished work that still feels human and still feels like me.
Key Responsibilities
Story and Structure: Find the strongest story inside the footage and make thoughtful decisions about pacing, order, emphasis, and what the viewer needs to stay engaged.
Long-form Editing: Edit story-driven YouTube videos while preserving my natural delivery, humor, emotion, and personality.
Short-form Editing: Create short-form videos and teasers that feel complete, compelling, and native to vertical platforms instead of simply cutting random moments from a longer video.
Brand Translation: Help develop a recognizable editing language for DashaLikeSasha using real textures, collage and mixed media influences, typography, movement, and other creative ideas that fit the story.
Purposeful Finishing: Use music, sound design, captions, graphics, visual references, B-roll, and effects when they add meaning, clarity, emotion, humor, or retention.
Project Organization: Keep project files, source media, exports, and versions organized so work can be found and revised without confusion.
Revisions and Collaboration: Receive feedback without losing your creative point of view, explain your decisions when useful, and help us make each video stronger.
Who You Are
A Storyteller First: You understand that strong editing is not just clean cuts and effects. Every decision should serve the story and viewer experience.
Creative, Not a Copycat: You can use references without copying them and create work that does not look like every other creator’s content.
Intentional: You know when a moment deserves more editing and when the strongest choice is to let the footage breathe.
Technically Skilled: You can deliver clean audio, polished visuals, readable captions, strong pacing, and professional exports in the correct format.
Efficient: You care about quality, but you also know when an extra hour will meaningfully improve the video and when it will not.
A Strong Communicator: You ask useful questions, share ideas, communicate delays early, and speak up when you believe another creative choice would work better.
Reliable and Self-Motivated: You can manage your time, meet agreed deadlines, and move the work forward without needing constant reminders.
What You’ll Bring to the Table
An Editorial Point of View: You have taste, ideas, and a reason behind your choices.
Emotional Intelligence: You can feel when a moment is funny, vulnerable, uncomfortable, powerful, or worth leaving imperfect.
Creative Ownership: You want to help bring a vision to life, not wait for someone to tell you where to place every cut, caption, or sound effect.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
Real Creative Freedom: I want your ideas. You will have room to experiment and show me possibilities I would not have created on my own.
Direct Collaboration: You will work directly with me and receive clear feedback about the story, brand, and intended feeling.
A Distinctive Visual World: We are building something recognizable, textured, and personality driven rather than copying whatever style is currently popular.
Meaningful Content: The work explores real life, identity, motherhood, confidence, relationships, business, creativity, and becoming more fully yourself.
Opportunity to Grow: I am looking for someone who could become a trusted, long-term creative partner as the brand and content operation grow.

How to Apply
If this sounds like your kind of role, follow every instruction below. I am intentionally keeping the application short.
Change the subject to “I Want to Edit for [Insert the name I went by on my YouTube channel, DashaLikeSasha, back when I was making videos about natural hair].”
At the top of your message, write two or three sentences explaining why you want this position and why you believe you are a strong fit. Do not write more than three sentences.
Share links to no more than three of your strongest, most relevant edits. Include at least one long-form video and one short-form video if you have both. Briefly state exactly what you edited on each project. Make sure every link can be viewed without requesting access. The work does not need to match my aesthetic. I am looking at storytelling, taste, and execution.
Choose one of those edits and, in no more than four sentences, explain one specific creative decision you made and why you made it.
After reviewing my current YouTube channel (and other platforms if you'd like), tell me one thing about my personality or delivery that you would protect in the edit and one aspect of the editing you would be excited to develop. Keep this answer to no more than four sentences.
List the editing software you use, your requested hourly rate in USD, your weekly availability, and when you could start.
Include your resume, LinkedIn profile, or OnlineJobs.ph profile.
Write in your own voice. I care more about clear, honest answers than polished corporate language.
I will only review applications that follow the instructions. Strong applicants will be invited to Stage 2. Finalists will complete a paid editing trial. If you move forward to an interview, it will be a short Google Meet call and video will be required.
Do not send more than what I requested. More is not better here. Following the instructions is part of the application.
Thank you,
Dasha
