About Us
Underground Music Academy (UMA) is a Detroit-based electronic music hub in the city's historic North End. We provide accessible, high-quality education in music production, DJing, and entrepreneurship for Detroit residents and students worldwide.
The Role
We need an organized, mission-driven Education Coordinator to support program coordination, partnerships, and communications, part admin, part project management, part marketing support.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the end-to-end operations of our online educational programs, from enrollment and onboarding through course delivery, feedback collection, and program wrap-up
- Coordinate communications with students, instructors, scholars, sponsors, and community partners
- Maintain operational databases; manage program timelines; and ensure accurate program records.
- Provide marketing, content creation, website maintenance, and community communications support
- Coordinate meetings and content/project schedules
- Assist with project management of digital, experiential, and partner projects
- Update partners on opportunities and identify growth opportunities
- Manage shared inboxes and respond to student, instructor, and partner inquiries
Qualifications
- Ability to build positive working relationships and communicate effectively with students, artists, professional musicians, educators, city officials, and community partners
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Zoom, or equivalent web-based tools
- Highly organized, with excellent time management skills and strong attention to detail
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills (to confirm you've read this closely, include the word "DETROIT" somewhere in your application subject line)
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Nice to Have
- Graphic design (Photoshop/Illustrator) or video editing (Premiere)
- Experience or willingness to learn website maintenance, database management, and
- Social media, grant writing, or partnership/marketing experience
