We are hiring a FULL-TIME (40 hours per week, 5 days a week) AI-first Video Editor to join our fast-growing Shopify e-commerce team. This is not a casual freelance position. We are looking for a serious performance editor who is highly skilled at generating video footage with AI and understands direct-response marketing well enough to create ads that convert.
A large part of the work involves iterating on and recreating proven competitor-style video ads for our products — matching structure, beats, and pacing while changing visuals, characters, settings, and wording so the result is our own. You will be given reference videos, scripts, and detailed product specifications. You'll build the footage using a mix of AI generation and real footage, then assemble and finish the ad. If you are a traditional editor who is uncomfortable prompting AI video models, this role is not for you.
AI is heavily emphasized, but real footage matters too. Some raw footage will be provided by us; the rest you will be expected to source yourself using stock libraries, our systems, and your own initiative. You must be able to blend AI-generated and real footage so the final video feels seamless.
We provide the tool stack: Higgsfield (with access to current video models such as Seedance, Kling, and Veo) and ElevenLabs for voiceover. You must already be proficient with Higgsfield or comparable AI video platforms. Experience with Midjourney, Atria, Arcads, Heygen, Sora, and similar tools is a plus. You should be capable of generating realistic footage — a person naturally holding or using a product, lifestyle moments, product demonstrations — that looks real and does not appear artificial or overproduced. You must be able to keep a character, setting, and product consistent across multiple shots.
Our products have locked physical shapes. You will receive product geometry specs and reference images, and the product must look identical in every shot of every video. A product that changes shape between scenes or a hand with six fingers is not acceptable in a delivered video.
You will be working on company accounts with finite AI credits. We expect you to plan your shots before generating, write careful prompts, avoid spray-and-pray regeneration, and treat credits as money. Efficient credit use is a core part of this job and will be tracked.
Every video must be reviewed by you before it is sent. This is a firm rule, not a suggestion. Watch your edit back-to-back against the reference video. Check product consistency, AI artifacts (hands, morphing, warped text, flickering), audio sync, pacing, and whether every line of the script is matched by the right visual. Work sent with obvious unreviewed errors will count against you during the trial period.
Revisions are a normal part of the job. We expect minor revision notes to be turned around the same day and detailed feedback to be followed precisely. Following instructions accurately is one of the main things you will be evaluated on.
Output expectations: 5–6 videos per day on average, ranging from 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Workload varies with the season and will change throughout the year. At the end of the day, quality matters more than quantity — clean, reviewed, on-spec videos are always better than a larger number of sloppy ones.
Beyond AI generation, you need solid editing skills in Adobe Premiere Pro or CapCut Pro, including captions, sound design, basic motion graphics, and the ability to combine AI and real footage seamlessly. You should understand what makes a hook work in the first 3 seconds, how to pace for retention, and how to build emotional engagement. You should be aware of metrics like hook rate, CTR, and retention, and think like a marketer as well as an editor.
Additional responsibilities include accurate labeling and organization of all video files, working within
Shortlisted candidates will complete a test that mirrors the real job: you'll receive a reference video, a script, and product references, and you'll recreate the ad using a mix of AI-generated and real footage. You'll also report how many credits you used and how you managed them. Successful candidates then move to a one-week trial to demonstrate consistency, quality, and reliability before the full-time offer.
This is a long-term position with consistent workload and growth opportunities inside a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
To apply, submit:
Your portfolio, including at least a few video ads made primarily with AI-generated footage (tell us which tools you used) and a few regular ads where AI has not been used.
A Loom video introducing yourself and explaining your experience with AI video generation, ad editing and marketing.
Written answers to these three questions: (a) Walk us through your Higgsfield or AI video workflow from script to finished shot. (b) How do you keep a product or character consistent across multiple generated shots? (c) How do you manage generation credits and avoid waste?
