JOB OVERVIEW

Schedule: 8AM–6PM Philippine time (8PM–6AM EST) – day shift on your local time. First month runs on this schedule.
Hours: 45–55 hours/week to start (can expand as you take on more).
Rate: $5/hour starting. Reviewed after the trial month — strong performers move up quickly as responsibility grows.
One-month paid trial. Show up, learn fast, ship, and the role becomes long-term with increasing ownership.
About us
PLCcode.ai is a US-based AI platform for industrial automation engineers — the people who program the machines that run factories and pharmaceutical plants. We parse real PLC code, run AI retrieval over vendor documentation, and generate control logic that engineers trust. We are early-stage, self-hosted, and building everything ourselves.
I currently handle the infrastructure myself (Docker, Linux, Proxmox, networking, GPU servers). I’m looking for someone junior who can grow into owning pieces of it — and also help build tools around the core product, fix bugs, and ship improvements. Small, growing team. High ownership and a lot of learning.
The role
You will start supporting and then gradually take ownership of:

Day-to-day Linux server and Docker operations (monitoring, basic troubleshooting, updates, backups)
Helping maintain and expand our self-hosted stack
Building internal tools and small features around the PLC/AI codebase
Bug fixes, polishing existing features, and shipping improvements
Light Next.js / TypeScript work as you ramp
Document ingestion helpers, simple scripts, and operational tasks around the AI pipeline
Learning by doing — you will work directly with me and be part of a growing team

This is explicitly a growth role. You are not expected to already know everything. You are expected to be reliable, curious, willing to learn a lot, and able to take feedback and improve quickly.

Requirements

Basic comfort with Linux command line (you have used it beyond just following tutorials)
Some exposure to Docker (even if only locally or on a small VPS/homelab)
Willingness to learn TypeScript / Next.js and modern web tooling
Clean, clear written English — all communication is written
Reliable internet + some form of backup power plan (brownouts are real)
Available the hours listed above and ready for an early-stage pace
Hungry to grow and be part of a small team building something real. Drive and consistency matter more than a polished resume

Nice to have (not required): any homelab or self-hosted projects, basic Python, previous exposure to servers or networking, interest in industrial automation / manufacturing.

A real story of when you worked hard and stuck with something difficult. Your own words. What was on the line, what you actually did, and how it turned out. No polished essays.

The first month is a paid trial at the rate above. Learn fast, communicate clearly, take ownership of small pieces, fix real bugs, help build tools, and there is a clear path to more responsibility and higher pay.
