Responsibilities
The Safety Manager / Safety Assistant will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the company's safety and compliance program, including:
FMCSA and DOT compliance
Driver Qualification (DQ) files
New driver onboarding and qualification
CDL and medical card verification
MVR review and monitoring
FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse
Pre-employment and annual Clearinghouse queries
Drug and alcohol testing compliance
Hours of Service (HOS) compliance
ELD monitoring and log auditing
Driver log violations and corrective actions
Driver safety performance monitoring
Accident and incident documentation
Accident investigations and follow-up
Roadside inspection review
DOT violation tracking
CSA/SMS monitoring
Safety score monitoring and improvement
Driver coaching and disciplinary documentation
Annual driver reviews
Expiration tracking for licenses, medical cards, permits, and other compliance documents
Preparing documentation for DOT/FMCSA audits
Maintaining organized and audit-ready safety records
Working with dispatch, operations, recruiting, and management to maintain compliance
