JOB OVERVIEW

We are Solent Sky Services, a UK aerial film and video production company. We shoot
from the air and the ground for commercial clients, and we produce our own content
for social media. We are looking for one video editor to become our in-house editing
partner - long term, exclusively with us.

This is not a per-project gig. We want to find the right person, train them properly
on our systems, and build the role around them. We start at around 20 hours a week and
move to full time as our volume grows. Where it goes from there is up to how far you
want to take it - our ambition is to support the right editor in building out a proper
post-production setup of their own, with us as the anchor client.

WHAT YOU WILL BE EDITING

- Client projects: brand films, corporate and case study pieces, property and
construction, events. These need narrative drive, clean pacing and a professional
finish.
- Our own social advertising: short-form, fast, stylish kinetic edits that stop the
scroll on Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube Shorts.

You will work with aerial and ground footage, often log/flat profiles that need
grading, and a mix of proxy and original media depending on the job.

THE WORKFLOW

- DaVinci Resolve, non-negotiable. We work collaboratively in Resolve, so you must be
comfortable working inside a shared project structure rather than editing in
isolation and sending files back.
- Proxy and original media workflows - generating proxies, relinking to originals,
and understanding when to use which.
- Clean, disciplined project organisation. Named bins, labelled timelines, versioned
cuts. If someone else opens your project, it should make sense immediately.
- Cloud transfer of media and outputs.

If you already work this way, great. If you know Resolve well but have not done
collaborative or proxy workflows before, we will train you. We would rather teach the
process to a good editor than hire a fast editor with bad habits.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- A genuinely good editor. Rhythm, timing, and an instinct for what to cut. We can
teach software; we cannot teach taste.
- Someone who wants to keep learning. New tools, new techniques, new formats.
- Someone who watches what is working right now - trends, formats, sound design,
what platforms are rewarding this month - and brings ideas to us rather than waiting
to be told.
- Reliable and communicative. You hit deadlines, and if something is going to slip,
you tell us early.
- Comfortable working with a UK-based team (GMT/BST). We are flexible on your hours,
but there should be some overlap with the UK working day.
- Looking for one long-term client rather than juggling several. We will be asking
for exclusivity as the hours build, and we will make it worth your while.

NICE TO HAVE (NOT REQUIRED)

- Fusion or After Effects for motion graphics and titles
- Colour grading with LUTs and node-based correction in Resolve
- Sound design and audio cleanup in Fairlight
- Experience with drone footage (DJI,, RED RAW, log profiles)
- Basic graphic design for thumbnails and social assets
- Subtitling and captioning

more narrative or corporate. If you only have one of those, send what you have and
say so.
3. A short note on your DaVinci Resolve experience: how long, what version, whether
you have used collaborative projects or proxy workflows.
4. Your internet speed (a screenshot of a speed test), your computer specs, and your
available hours per week in your local time.
5. Start your message with the word RESOLVE so we know you read this properly.

Shortlisted applicants will be given a short PAID test edit using our own footage.

We do not ask anyone to work for free.
