JOB OVERVIEW

About the Role

I run an independent design studio specializing in footwear, product design, 3D modeling, and visualization. I'm looking for a talented 3D footwear modeler who works primarily in Blender to help execute client projects for the studio.

You will work from my creative direction, sketches, reference images, existing concepts, and feedback to develop high-quality 3D footwear models.

This is primarily an execution role. I will generally establish the design direction, and I need someone who can take that direction and accurately translate it into polished 3D footwear.

This will be part-time as projects will come in at different times.

Responsibilities
- Model footwear concepts in Blender from sketches, references, and creative direction
- Build clean, detailed shoe geometry including uppers, soles, panels, seams, padding, and other components
- Refine proportions, surfaces, transitions, and construction details
- Make revisions based on clear feedback and art direction
- Prepare organized Blender files for continued development
- Maintain clean topology and organized scene/file structure
- Work across different footwear styles and design languages
- Communicate progress clearly and meet agreed deadlines

Required:

- Strong Blender modeling skills (CAD or Nurbs modeling not needed)
- Experience modeling footwear or similarly complex consumer products
- Strong understanding of form, proportion, and surface quality
- Ability to accurately model from 2D references
- Comfortable receiving detailed feedback and making revisions
- Organized and reliable
- Strong attention to detail

Nice to Have:

- Professional footwear design experience
- Understanding of footwear construction
- Experience with 3D-printable footwear
- Sculpting experience in Blender
- Retopology and mesh cleanup experience
