About Caliber Consultants Corp.
Caliber Consultants Corp is a growing Canadian bookkeeping and financial advisory firm based in Alberta.
We help small-business owners gain clarity, control and confidence in their finances through accurate bookkeeping, reliable monthly reporting and practical financial guidance.
We are building a modern, process-driven accounting firm and are looking for someone who wants to grow with us over the long term.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, dependable and detail-oriented QuickBooks Online bookkeeper to join us as our first Client Accounting Associate.
You will support the recurring bookkeeping and month-end processes for multiple Canadian small-business clients. You will work directly with the firm’s founder and follow established procedures, checklists and review controls.
This is not a generic virtual-assistant position. It is an accounting-focused role for someone who enjoys clean books, balanced reconciliations and well-organized working papers.
You will not be expected to make unsupported accounting decisions. When something is unclear, we expect you to investigate, document the issue and flag it for review rather than guess.
Your Responsibilities
Client bookkeeping
Maintain accurate client records in QuickBooks Online
Review and categorize bank-feed transactions using established rules
Reconcile bank, credit-card, loan and clearing accounts
Match receipts, invoices and other supporting documents
Identify missing, duplicated or unusual transactions
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable tracking
Prepare supporting schedules and organized working papers
Support bookkeeping cleanup and catch-up projects
Month-end support
Complete monthly-close checklists
Confirm that required accounts have been reconciled
Prepare draft Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet reports
Identify unexpected balances or changes requiring review
Maintain lists of outstanding questions and missing information
Prepare client files for final review by the firm’s founder
Canadian compliance support
Assist with GST/HST working-paper preparation
Track input tax credits and sales-tax balances
Support payroll and source-remittance reconciliations
Organize year-end information for the client’s accountant or tax preparer
You will not initially file tax returns, submit government remittances, make payments or post significant adjusting entries without approval.
Client and practice operations
Maintain client document-request lists
Draft professional follow-up messages for missing information
Keep client folders and supporting documents organized
Update task deadlines and workflow status
Follow and help improve standard operating procedures
Communicate completed work, questions and potential problems clearly
Required Qualifications
At least two years of hands-on bookkeeping experience
Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online
Experience reconciling bank and credit-card accounts
Good understanding of debits, credits and basic financial statements
Strong Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets skills
Excellent written and spoken English
Reliable computer, internet connection and backup plan
Ability to protect confidential client and financial information
Ability to meet recurring weekly and monthly deadlines
Experience working independently in a remote environment
Preferred Qualifications
QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification
Experience supporting Canadian businesses
Experience with GST/HST and input tax credits
Experience with Canadian payroll or source deductions
Experience working for an accounting or bookkeeping firm
Familiarity with month-end working papers and review processes
Experience supporting multiple client files simultaneously
Canadian experience is preferred, but a highly capable candidate with strong accounting fundamentals and a willingness to learn Canadian requirements is encouraged to apply.
The Person We Are Looking For
You may be a strong fit if you:
Take pride in accurate and organized work
Enjoy following checklists and completing recurring processes
Investigate discrepancies instead of forcing balances
Flag issues early rather than waiting until a deadline
Ask thoughtful and specific questions
Communicate reliably without needing repeated follow-up
Are comfortable receiving review notes and improving your work
Want a stable, respectful and long-term working relationship
Are interested in growing into greater responsibility as the firm expands
This position may not be a good fit if you frequently miss deadlines, guess when accounting treatment is unclear, resist documented procedures or are looking only for a short-term project.
Schedule and Communication
Most work can be completed according to a flexible Philippine schedule, provided deadlines are met.
You must be available for:
One scheduled video check-in each week
Occasional training or review meetings during early Alberta business hours
Written communication during each working day
A response to normal messages within one business day
The position will begin at approximately 8–10 hours per week. Hours may increase as you successfully take responsibility for more client files.
Compensation and Development
$7–$10 USD per hour, based on relevant experience
Paid skills assessment for shortlisted candidates
Paid onboarding and training
Flexible remote schedule
Compensation review after the initial 90-day period
Opportunity for increased hours and responsibility
Long-term opportunity within a growing Canadian firm
