Business Development Associate (Part-Time, Remote – Work from Home)
The Opportunity
Are you someone who loves the mission of turning a cold introduction into a real client engagement?
Do you thrive on building structure around a fast-moving pipeline, so that no opportunity is ever left to go cold?
We're looking for a highly capable Business Development Associate to remotely support an expanding Australian based growth advisory firm working across business development, account management, new product development, and strategy.
This is not a typical task taker VA role. This is an opportunity to step into a genuine business development position for the long-term, starting part-time (20 hours per week), with the opportunity to grow in scope and responsibility (up to 40 hours per week) as the advisory firm continues to grow.
About the Role
This role sits at the centre of the business's growth engine. Approximately 60% of your time will be spent supporting business development and sales activity with a key commercial partner (the Partner Organisation) – researching opportunities, building prospect lists, managing outreach and keeping the pipeline moving.
The remaining 40% will support the advisory firm’s own LinkedIn presence, business development and existing client relationships, including content, engagement and outreach.
You will work closely with the Business Owner, who remains the primary salesperson and relationship lead, and play a critical role in providing the research, systems and follow-up that allow deals to progress and client relationships to be protected.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Prospecting (Primary Focus)
- Research agencies, prospective clients, partners and commercial opportunities for the Partner Organisation.
- Build and maintain targeted prospect lists based on agreed criteria.
- Identify relevant decision-makers and gather useful commercial information before engagement.
- Conduct structured outbound outreach and consistent follow-up.
- Support the booking of meetings and sales conversations for the Business Owner.
- Research active opportunities to add useful context ahead of sales conversations.
CRM & Pipeline Management
- Maintain the CRM as the central source of truth for all business development opportunities.
- Record and track every prospect, contact and opportunity accurately.
- Update pipeline stages and manage follow-up activities and next actions.
- Maintain accurate forecasting information.
- Provide clear visibility of pipeline activity and upcoming priorities.
LinkedIn & Content Support
- Support the Business Owner's personal LinkedIn presence (approximately 3 posts per week).
- Draft content that reflects the Business Owner's natural voice and professional positioning.
- Manage LinkedIn content for approximately 3-4 existing clients (9-12 posts per week combined).
- Support engagement, connections and direct message outreach.
- Maintain an organised and forward-planned content calendar.
Client & Relationship Management
- Maintain professional and timely communication with prospects, clients and business partners.
- Follow up outstanding actions and commitments proactively.
- Support existing client relationships.
- Identify potential issues or relationship risks and raise them early.
Reporting & Process Improvement
- Provide regular progress updates on pipeline, outreach and LinkedIn activity.
- Help build repeatable systems for prospecting, CRM management and follow-up.
- Identify inefficiencies and suggest practical improvements.
About You
You are not only organised, you are commercially minded and treat every opportunity like it's your own business. You take genuine ownership, communicate clearly, and follow through without needing to be chased. You build real relationships rather than approaching people transactionally, people trust you.
You are comfortable working in an environment where priorities can shift and systems are still being built. You are not a typical "task taker," you think ahead, take initiative, and understand that your work is directly connected to revenue. You genuinely value growth, hard work, integrity and helping the businesses you support to scale.
You MUST have your own safe, private and distraction-free home office with a reliable computer, stable high-speed internet and stable power.
Experience & Skills
- Experience in business development, sales, lead generation, account management or a related commercial role.
- Experience using CRM or sales pipeline management platforms.
- Strong research skills and able to qualify prospects, not just build contact lists.
- Experience managing LinkedIn profiles or business content.
- Strong written English with the ability to draft professional, personalised outreach and content.
- Understanding of the sales lifecycle from initial prospecting through to conversion.
Personal Attributes
- Proactive and takes initiative
- Highly accountable and reliable
- Friendly, approachable and comfortable in an informal but professional environment
- Strong attention to detail, especially across CRM and follow-up
- Commercially minded and focused on outcomes, not just activity
- Ambitious and motivated to grow with the business
What's on Offer
- Part-time role: Starting at 20 hours per week (4 hours per day, Monday–Friday).
- $10 AUD per hour (non-negotiable as a start).
- Performance and results bonuses and incentives.
- Remote position – work from home.
- Opportunity to build a business development function from the ground up.
- Work directly with the Business Owner and contribute to real, measurable revenue growth.
- Potential for the role to grow in scope and responsibility as the businesses grow.
