Sizzle Reel: Producer & Video Editor
Strong Storytelling & Marketing Judgment Required — Potential Long-Term Position
I am looking for an exceptional video editor and creative producer to help me create a powerful 2–3 minute professional speaker sizzle reel designed for this specific purpose:
-To help me get hired for paid speaking engagements and a guest on podcasts.
-This is NOT simply a video-editing job.
I need someone who can watch my existing speaking videos, podcast interviews, teaching/educational videos, look at my on-line resource, wellness practice videos, stock, branding assets and independently recognize the moments that would most likely make a meeting planner, corporation, association, conference organizer, or other decision-maker get a sense of who I am, what I’m about, want to hire me as a speaker, or invite me on a podcast or collaborate to benefits my business.
About My Speaking Topic:
My primary speaking topic is: Why Smart People Make Bad Health Decisions—and How to Make Better Ones
This isn't a talk about diets and exercise, per se. It's about the psychology of better decision-making.
I explore why intelligent, well-intentioned people can still make poor health decisions—and how factors such as confirmation bias, authority bias, social media, AI, Google, influencers, fear-based marketing, miracle cures, and misinformation influence what we believe and the choices we make.
I also explore why our brains are naturally attracted to simple answers, even if the reality is a bit more nuanced.
My goal is for audiences to leave thinking differently and feeling empowered—better able to evaluate health information, question their assumptions, and make healthier choices that can directly and significantly affect both the quality and length of their lives.
This context is important because I need an editor who can recognize not only entertaining or visually impressive moments, but also the ideas, insights, audience reactions, and memorable statements that make someone want to hear more.
The Most Important Skills
I do not want to have to watch my footage myself and tell you exactly which clips to use.
I need you to be able to review the footage and identify things such as:
• Powerful or memorable statements
• Moments that demonstrate authority and credibility
• Strong audience reactions
• Applause, laughter, and engagement
• Emotional moments
• Compelling stories
• Strong teaching moments
• Clips that demonstrate stage presence and personality
• Testimonials or other credibility elements
• Moments that would make an event organizer think, “We should hire this speaker.”
You therefore need both excellent video-editing AND excellent editorial and marketing judgment, and story-telling ability.
I also want you to incorporate:
• My branding assets, stock photography, slogans and quotes (as provided)
• Give a “world view “of the wellness resources I have developed and provided for the public at large (my online biz, selfcare programs, formulations and shop)
• Use music to evoke a more heart-opening experience.
The FIRST Project
The first project will be to create an approximately 2–3 minute professional speaker sizzle reel from my existing speaking footage and other relevant material.
You will:
1. Review and organize my existing footage and assets provided
2. Identify and timestamp the strongest potential segments.
3. Recommend which segments should be included and explain why.
4. Develop a compelling storyline and structure for the reel.
5. Edit the selected footage into a highly professional 2 to 3-minute speaker sizzle reel.
6. Incorporate appropriate music, graphics, stock photos, branding statements, titles, transitions, audience reactions, testimonials, and other elements where they strengthen the reel.
7. Make recommendations if you believe something is missing that would significantly improve the finished product.
8. Work with me through revisions until we have a highly professional final reel.
The finished product should not simply look attractive. It needs to market and sell me as a professional speaker.
Potential LONG-TERM Opportunity
Although this sizzle reel is the first project, I would strongly prefer to find someone I can work with long term.
For the right person, additional responsibilities could eventually include:
• Creating shorter videos from my speaking footage
• Repurposing long-form content into social-media clips
• Organizing and maintaining my video/content library
• Creating promotional videos
• YouTube and social-media video preparation
• Basic marketing and content-related tasks
• Other virtual-assistant responsibilities depending upon your abilities Video storytelling, brand identity and judgment are the priority.
I can teach many administrative tasks. It is much harder to teach someone how to recognize an exceptional moment in a piece of footage.
Who I'm Looking For
You should have:
• Excellent professional video-editing skills
• Strong storytelling instincts
• Excellent English speaking and comprehension
• The ability to understand nuance, emotion, and persuasive communication
• Strong judgment about what makes a speaker compelling
• Experience editing speaker reels, sizzle reels, demo reels, promotional videos, event videos, or similar material
• The confidence to make recommendations rather than waiting for detailed instructions
• Follows direction when necessary and listens deeply to what the client is wanting
• Good communication and reliability
• The ability to receive and incorporate feedback
• Strong attention to detail
Experience creating promotional videos for professional speakers, authors, experts, consultants, coaches, thought leaders, conferences, or corporate audiences in the wellness space is a major advantage.
STEP 1 — Submit 2–3 Samples of Your Work
The first step is simply to send me 2–3 examples of your best and most relevant work.
I am especially interested in seeing:
• Speaker sizzle reels or demo reels
• Keynote speaker promotional videos
• Expert or thought-leader promotional videos
• Event highlight reels
• Videos in which you had to review longer-form footage and determine which moments were strongest
• Similar work that demonstrates both excellent editing and strong storytelling judgment
Please do not send me a large portfolio or a long list of links. I would rather see the 2–3 examples that you believe best demonstrate why you are the right person for this particular project.
I will review these samples first and invite the strongest candidates to the next step.
STEP 2 — Paid Evaluation for Finalists
After reviewing the submitted samples, I expect to select a small number of finalists for a paid evaluation.
Each finalist will receive the same approximately 20–30 minutes of my speaking footage and will be asked to:
• Identify the 6 strongest excerpts
• Provide the beginning and ending timestamp for each
• Rank them from strongest to weakest
• Give me 1–2 sentences explaining why each excerpt would help persuade someone to hire me for a paid speaking engagement
I may then ask the strongest candidates to produce a short sample edit.
This evaluation will be paid.
I'm specifically interested in discovering how you think—not simply whether you know how to operate video-editing software.
HOW TO APPLY
Please do not send a long generic cover letter!
For the initial application, please keep it simple.
Send me:
1. 2–3 links to your best and most relevant video samples.
2. Briefly tell me what role you personally played in creating those videos.
3. If you have created a sizzle reel or demo reel specifically for a professional speaker, tell me which sample it is.
4. Tell me your approximate hourly rate and/or typical project rate.
Please begin your application with these exact words:
“I understand that selecting the right moments is as important as editing them.”
Applications that do not begin with that sentence will not be considered.
At this stage, I primarily want to see the quality of your work and determine whether your editing and storytelling style might be a good fit.
If your samples stand out, I will contact you about the next step.
Thank you for your interest and I look forward to hearing from you if you are drawn to this project and believe you can do an exceptional job!
