Elementary English / ELA Tutor – Energetic & Engaging
We are seeking a cheerful, energetic, and engaging online English tutor to provide live, one-on-one instruction to elementary-aged homeschooled children.
The ideal tutor will bring lots of energy to each lesson and make learning enjoyable through stories, games, pictures, conversation, and interactive activities. The tutor should speak clear, natural English that is easily understood by young American students.
Responsibilities:
* Teach phonics and decoding skills
* Improve reading fluency and comprehension
* Teach spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary
* Develop sentence structure and handwriting skills
* Teach paragraph, story, and creative writing
* Build speaking and pronunciation skills
* Introduce age-appropriate literature
* Adapt instruction to each child’s individual ability and learning needs
* Correct mistakes kindly and explain concepts patiently
* Provide regular progress updates
* Assign appropriate practice between lessons
* Maintain a dependable, consistent schedule
Required Qualifications:
* Excellent or native-level English
* Experience teaching or tutoring elementary-aged children
* Strong knowledge of phonics and correct sound production
* Cheerful, patient, encouraging, and highly energetic personality
* Ability to keep young children engaged during one-on-one online lessons
* Organized and able to provide structured instruction
* Reliable computer, internet connection, webcam, audio, and quiet teaching space
Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
* Experience teaching American or international students
* Experience with American elementary curriculum
* Experience with homeschooling, dyslexia, reading intervention, or individualized education
* Experience teaching children approximately ages 5–10
*Props and video emblishments
*Award system for children to be engaged and have a fun time
Schedule:
Remote, part-time position. Consistent weekday availability during agreed-upon U.S. Eastern Time hours is preferred. The exact schedule and number of weekly lessons will be arranged based on availability and the children’s needs.
Compensation:
Based on experience, qualifications, lesson length, and number of children taught.
