JOB OVERVIEW

READ THIS FIRST

This application requires a paid test video. It takes about an hour and I pay $25 USD for it whether or not I hire you.

Applications without a test video are deleted unread. Not set aside, not reviewed later - deleted. I've run this post before without the test as a hard requirement and got thirty applications I couldn't tell apart. I'd rather read five real edits than fifty resumes.

If that's not something you want to do, no hard feelings, but please don't apply - you'll be spending your time for nothing.

INTERVIEWS HAVE ALREADY STARTED. There is no closing date because there doesn't need to be one. I'm reviewing tests as they arrive and interviewing the strong ones the same week. The moment I find the right editor this post comes down. If you're reading this and you want the role, do the test today. Every day you wait is a day the seat is more likely already filled.

THE TEST

Folder (everything you need is in here):
----------

Inside, you'll find the reference video, the raw footage, and a "Further Directions" file. Read that file before you start.

POSITION

Full-Time Short-Form Video Editor — $1,000+/mo — Established TikTok Pages (Long-Term Role)

TYPE / SALARY

Full Time · 5–6 days per week · PH or similar time zone $1,000 USD/month starting, potential for performance bonuses. Raises tied to skill and results.

JOB DESCRIPTION

I run TikTok pages that consistently reach millions of views. I'm looking for one editor to take ownership of the editing work alongside me, long term.

Success in this role comes down to two things above all else: editing quality and English comprehension. Because of that, this posting is specific about what the work requires, and the application asks for more than a résumé. I'd rather be clear upfront than have either of us discover a mismatch a month in.

THE WORK

Daily short-form vertical content — talking heads and voiceover/b-roll:

Cutting dead space so videos stay paced and never drag
Stitching the strongest takes into one seamless piece
Adding image overlays on screen to support what's being said
Zooms, crops, and reframes to keep the frame dynamic
B-roll builds: I provide a voiceover and footage, you find the visual that matches each line
Sourcing your own overlay assets — reading the script and independently finding the images it calls for

The last two items are the core of the role. The rest is technical work most editors can learn. Choosing the right visual for the right sentence is what separates a video that reaches 4,000 people from one that reaches 4,000,000.

SOURCING YOUR OWN ASSETS

This is one of the most important parts of the job, and the part most editors are not set up for. I'll give you background and direction, but I want you fully self-sufficient at finding the visuals a script needs. That means:

Reading the script and working out which images the moment actually calls for
Finding high-quality, aesthetically strong photos of the celebrities and influencers being discussed — not the first search result, but the image that looks right on screen
Learning the brands I work with well enough to represent them correctly
Knowing which parts of a brand's website are worth capturing, and pulling clean screenshots of them
Sourcing relevant comments, posts, and screenshots that support the point being made
Placing every asset at the right moment in the video, on the beat the script lands on

I shouldn't have to send you an image folder for a video to get made. You should be able to take the script and go find what it needs.

This requires genuinely understanding English — hearing a sentence and catching the humor, the tone, the reference — because you can't source the right image for a line you don't fully understand. Your English does not need to be perfect. It needs to be strong enough that you follow everything being said and that we can communicate quickly and clearly. Familiarity with internet and pop culture is a significant advantage here, and it's rewarded.

EXAMPLES OF THE WORK

Please watch all three before applying so you know exactly what you'd be producing.

Basic talking head — cutting dead space, piecing clips together, light crops and zooms: ----------
Talking head with overlays — the same, plus supplied images placed on screen: ----------
B-roll — a voiceover with footage matched to it line by line. This is where English comprehension shows most: ----------

WHO I'M LOOKING FOR
Strong attention to detail. You catch the frame held a beat too long or the overlay that sits slightly off. This is the most important quality in the role.
Self-sufficiency with assets. You can take a script and go find the images it needs without being handed a folder. This is weighted as heavily as your editing.
Willingness to go the extra step. Reviewing your own export once more and fixing what wasn't flagged.
Strong English comprehension. Understanding is essential; polished speaking and writing is a bonus.
Responsive communication. When I message during working hours, I need a reply promptly rather than the following day.
Exclusivity. This is a full-time position and I'm looking for someone working with me only — no other clients, agencies, or subcontracting. In return you get stability, a real salary, and an employer invested in your growth.
A long-term outlook. I'm hiring someone to grow with these pages over years, not to fill a short-term gap.

This role likely isn't the right fit if you're applying broadly today, prefer briefs explained in detail more than once, or intend to use AI to write your application answers — I'm looking for your own thinking.

REQUIREMENTS
Proven experience editing short-form vertical video (TikTok / Reels / Shorts)
CapCut or any software you work quickly in — the output is what matters
Confident sourcing your own images, screenshots, and reference material online, with good taste in what looks right on screen
Reliable internet and a computer that handles daily editing without issues
Available full time, with reasonable overlap with my hours. The volume moves with the content schedule — some weeks run 4–5 days, others run 6–7. I need someone who can flex with it rather than hold to a fixed number of days
Able to receive payment via Wise
Comfortable receiving direct feedback and applying it the first time
PAY AND GROWTH

$1,000 USD/month paid through Wise, with potential for performance bonuses. The ceiling on this role sits well above the starting salary — as you learn the pages and begin contributing your own ideas, your compensation grows accordingly. You'd be working directly with me each day on pages already reaching millions of views.

HOW TO APPLY

Subject line: EDITOR — [number of the example video above you think is hardest to edit] (For example: EDITOR — 2. Applications that don't follow this format won't be reviewed.)

Please include in your message:

Links to 2–3 short-form videos you personally edited, and what you handled on each. If you worked on only part of a video, please say so — accuracy matters more to me than scope.
In your own words, 3–5 sentences, without AI assistance: watch example #3 and describe one editing choice that worked well and one you would have approached differently. There's no right answer — I'm interested in how you evaluate a video.
The software you use and how long you've worked in it.
Your internet speed (a speed test screenshot is ideal) and your typical available hours in PH time.
One sentence on your current work and why you're looking to move.

Paid test — $25 USD. Shortlisted applicants receive a Google Drive folder containing the reference video plus the original voiceover takes and footage. You'll stitch together the strongest takes, match footage to the voiceover, and send back your version. Note that the folder deliberately does not contain every image the script calls for — part of the test is sourcing the missing visuals yourself and placing them where they belong. It should take about an hour. This test is paid $25 USD regardless of the hiring outcome — I don't ask anyone to work unpaid.

A strong test is followed by a short call, and then a start date. I review every application that follows the instructions above.
