We're looking for an experienced Social Media & Brand Communications Strategist to join our growing virtual team of 15 VAs. This is a long-term role with strong potential for full-time employment.
You'll work directly with clients in Canada, the U.S., and Europe managing their social media from strategy through execution, plus some general virtual assistant support. The role starts at 10 hours/week and grows to 30–40 hours/week as you take on more clients (2–4 at a time).
This is not a basic content-scheduling role. We want someone who takes ownership, thinks ahead, builds systems, and helps clients strengthen their brands through meaningful storytelling.
What You'll Do
Social Media Strategy
• Develop monthly content calendars and platform-specific strategies for Instagram,
• Identify campaigns, themes, and content series
• Research trends, review analytics, and recommend ideas that grow visibility and engagement
Content Creation
• Turn raw notes, photos, and videos into engaging, platform-tailored content
• Write compelling captions and design Canva graphics and carousels
• Edit short-form videos and reels, and repurpose content into multiple formats
Storytelling & Communications
Go beyond "posting content." You'll spot the stories worth telling client wins, community impact, testimonials, behind-the-scenes moments, event highlights, and partner recognition. Every post should communicate purpose, not just report what happened.
Community & Publishing
• Schedule and publish content, tagging partners and sponsors correctly
• Monitor comments and engagement, and maintain consistency across platforms
• Follow accessibility and publishing best practices; track analytics and suggest improvements
Systems & Organization
Proactively build the systems that make everything run smoothly content-collection checklists, event forms, reusable templates, workflows, and asset libraries. You'll anticipate what's needed before content creation begins, rather than waiting for direction.
Ideal Candidate
• Proven experience managing social media across multiple platforms for businesses or organizations
• Excellent English writing and strong storytelling ability
• Canva design and short-form video editing skills
• Experience with social media scheduling tools
• Strong organization and confidence managing multiple brands
• A proactive, independent problem-solver who works well with minimal supervision
Bonus: experience with nonprofits, education, youth or Indigenous communities, coaches, or social-impact businesses.
This Role Is NOT for You If…
• You only know how to schedule posts
• You wait to be told exactly what to do
• You struggle with deadlines or don't enjoy writing
• You dislike organizing information and building systems
• You're uncomfortable communicating directly with clients
• You've never worked as a social media manager or with international clients
