Role summary
You take approved artwork and build press-ready and manufacturer-ready files that match each supplier’s template and specification exactly.
Responsibilities:
• Build print-ready files for canopy tents, table covers, retractable and vinyl banners, step and repeat backdrops, drinkware, writing instruments, and trade show booth components
• Work directly from supplier dielines and specification sheets
• Deliver native Illustrator and Photoshop files plus press-ready PDFs
• Handle bleeds, safe zones, imprint areas, trim marks, and fold and seam allowances correctly per product
• Manage color correctly: CMYK conversion, spot color specification, and imprint color matching where the supplier requires it
• Prepare vector art at correct scale for large-format output and outline type where required
• Review supplier proofs and mark corrections
Must have:
• Demonstrated production art experience in a print shop, sign shop, wrap shop, or promotional products supplier
• Portfolio with at least two case studies showing files you prepared and the finished manufactured product
• Expert Illustrator and Photoshop
• Fluent with dielines, imposition, bleed and safe zone standards, and press-ready PDF export presets
• Correct color management practice, including spot color and imprint color specification
• Meticulous attention to specification detail. On this work, a small error becomes a physical reprint
Nice to have:
• Experience with US promotional products suppliers and their template systems
• Large format and grand format output experience
• CorelDRAW, which some suppliers still require
Start your application with the words DIELINE on the first line. Applications without it are deleted unread.
Screening questions:
1. Send two examples of production files you built plus a photo of the manufactured result.
2. A supplier sends a dieline for a 10x10 canopy tent. What are the first things you verify before starting?
3. A client supplies a logo as a 600px PNG for a 8ft step and repeat. What do you do?
4. Explain when you specify a spot color versus CMYK build on a promotional imprint.
5. Which suppliers’ template systems have you worked with directly?
6. What is your typical turnaround from approved art to press-ready file, and how do you quote?
