We are a US-based digital marketing agency looking for a senior SEO specialist who can run a full technical audits for new leads, existing clients, work on architecting fixes, and feed into the development of the overall strategy. This is 15-20 hours per week to start, with a clear path to full-time.
Role summary:
You own SEO execution across our own properties and our client accounts. That includes diagnosing sites, implementing on-page and technical fixes in WordPress, owning local search presence, and building off-site visibility. You will also own our presence on one high-value community platform where AI search engines source answers, working from a playbook we have already written.
Responsibilities:
• Run full site crawls with Screaming Frog and turn the export into a prioritized findings list with evidence, not a raw data dump
• Produce prospect-facing audit findings on new business opportunities, on a defined turnaround
• Implement on-page optimization: heading structure, content placement and sequencing on the page, internal linking, metadata, and answer-first formatting for AI Overview and answer-engine visibility
• Build and validate schema markup, and troubleshoot rich result eligibility
• Apply current experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trust practices, and structure content for information gain rather than restating what already ranks
• Own Google Business Profile management and directory citation building and cleanup across multiple local businesses
• Execute off-site work: third-party platform publishing, digital PR, brand mention acquisition, and social surfaces that feed search visibility
• Manage a disclosed, community-first presence on a major discussion platform, following our existing playbook and its posting ratios
• Pull, interpret, and report from Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console
• Implement everything hands-on in WordPress using Rank Math
Must have:
• 3 or more years of SEO in an agency environment, working across multiple client accounts and multiple industries at the same time
• Fluent, independent use of Screaming Frog. You must be able to explain what you check first in a 400-page crawl and why
• Expert-level WordPress, including Rank Math, and comfort with Elementor. Yoast familiarity is fine as a substitute background
• Working command of Ahrefs. Exposure to Semrush, SpyFu, or SEOptimer is a plus, not a requirement
• Demonstrable Google Analytics 4 and Search Console skill, including reading a query report and diagnosing a traffic drop
• Hands-on local SEO experience: Google Business Profile, citation building, NAP consistency at scale
• Genuine off-page experience placing content and earning mentions on sites you do not own
• Written English strong enough to write a findings summary a client executive will read
• Reliable internet and a machine that can run Screaming Frog on large crawls
Nice to have
• Experience optimizing specifically for AI Overviews, ChatGPT, or Perplexity citation
• Surfer SEO
• Experience with regulated or considered-purchase B2B verticals
• Community platform participation history under a real account with real karma
Finalist stage
