JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a creative and reliable YouTube Video Editor to help us build a brand-new family lifestyle YouTube channel.

About Our Channel

Our channel will document our family’s journey toward eventually moving to South Africa from America

We recently took our first family trip to South Africa and have a large amount of video footage that needs to be turned into engaging YouTube content.

Our videos will showcase our real-life journey, including:

Our family travels and experiences in South Africa
Exploring different cities, neighborhoods, and communities
Food, culture, activities, and everyday life
Our experiences traveling as a family
What we are learning about South Africa
The process of preparing for a possible future move
Behind-the-scenes family moments
Our successes, challenges, and experiences along the way

We want the channel to feel authentic, entertaining, personal, and story-driven rather than overly corporate or heavily produced.

What We Need

We are looking for someone who can take our raw footage and turn it into content people actually want to watch.

Your responsibilities may include:

Editing long-form YouTube videos
Creating YouTube Shorts from our footage
Finding the best moments within longer raw video files
Creating strong hooks and intros that keep viewers watching
Adding music, sound effects, transitions, text, captions, B-roll, etc. when appropriate
Improving the pacing and storytelling of our videos
Creating professional, clickable YouTube thumbnails
Organizing footage and completed videos
Making revisions when necessary
BIG PLUS: YouTube Channel Management & Growth Experience

We are especially interested in someone who understands more than just video editing.

If you have experience with growing or managing YouTube channels, please tell us about it.

Experience with any of the following is a big plus:

YouTube SEO
Video titles and descriptions
Thumbnail strategy
Increasing click-through rate (CTR)
Audience retention
YouTube Shorts strategy
Content planning
Studying YouTube analytics
Growing subscribers and views
Understanding what makes lifestyle/travel/family content perform well

Our goal is to find someone who can eventually become an important part of growing the channel with us.

Who We're Looking For

The ideal person is:

Experienced with lifestyle, family, vlog, or travel-style editing
A good storyteller, not just a technical video editor
Creative and able to bring ideas to the table
Good at identifying interesting moments from raw footage
Able to make videos engaging without over-editing them
Reliable and consistent
Good at communicating
Able to meet deadlines
Interested in a long-term working relationship
Comfortable receiving feedback and making revisions
Hours & Pay

Starting Pay: $4–$8 USD per hour, depending on experience and skill level.

This will initially be a part-time position, but it has the potential to become full-time for the right person as the channel grows and we produce more content.

We are looking for someone who wants to grow with us long term.
