JOB OVERVIEW

**YouTube Channel Growth & Management Specialist / Virtual Assistant — Long-Term Position**

### Position Overview

We are looking for a highly organized, experienced **YouTube Channel Growth & Management Specialist** to help manage and grow an established YouTube channel focused on retirement income, financial education, and retirement planning for Americans primarily age 55–75.

This is NOT simply a video-uploading position.

We are looking for someone who understands how YouTube works and can help improve:

* Click-through rate (CTR)
* Views
* Watch time
* Audience retention
* Subscribers
* Titles
* Thumbnails
* Video topics
* Shorts
* Channel organization
* Overall channel growth

The right person will be able to look at YouTube Analytics and explain **why a video performed well or poorly and what should be changed.**

This is intended to become a **long-term position** for the right person.

---

# WHAT YOU WILL DO

## 1. YouTube Publishing & Channel Management

You will:

* Upload and schedule YouTube videos
* Create and format video descriptions
* Add chapters/timestamps
* Add end screens
* Add cards when appropriate
* Add videos to playlists
* Add subtitles/captions when necessary
* Upload approved thumbnails
* Schedule videos for publication
* Check videos after publication for errors
* Organize playlists and channel content
* Review and help manage comments
* Create or schedule Community posts

---

## 2. Titles & Thumbnails

You will help develop:

* High-performing YouTube titles
* Thumbnail concepts
* Thumbnail text
* Alternative title ideas
* A/B testing ideas when appropriate

You must understand the difference between:

**Creating curiosity**

and

**Using misleading clickbait.**

Our audience values professionalism, authority, credibility, and trust.

---

## 3. YouTube Analytics

You should understand and regularly monitor:

* Impressions
* Click-through rate
* Views
* Watch time
* Average view duration
* Audience retention
* Subscriber growth
* Traffic sources
* Returning viewers
* New viewers
* Top-performing videos
* Underperforming videos

You should be able to provide recommendations based on these numbers—not simply report the numbers.

---

## 4. YouTube Shorts

You will review long-form videos and identify content that could become YouTube Shorts.

Responsibilities may include:

* Identifying strong Short clips
* Suggesting hooks
* Writing Short titles
* Writing captions
* Creating or coordinating Shorts
* Scheduling Shorts
* Tracking which Shorts generate the most engagement

Experience using tools such as CapCut, Descript, OpusClip, Adobe Premiere Pro, Canva, or similar software is helpful.

---

## 5. Content Research

You will help identify:

* Video topics our audience is interested in
* Questions retirees are asking
* Competitor videos performing well
* Potential title ideas
* Thumbnail trends
* Content gaps
* Topics that could become future long-form videos

You should NOT simply copy competitors.

Your job is to identify patterns and opportunities.

---

# OUR AUDIENCE

Our primary audience is:

**Americans approximately age 55–75 who are preparing for retirement or already retired.**

Topics include:

* Retirement income
* Running out of money in retirement
* Market risk
* Sequence-of-returns risk
* Social Security
* 401(k)s and IRAs
* Annuities
* Fixed index annuities
* Estate planning
* Long-term care
* Taxes in retirement
* Protecting retirement assets

Experience working with financial, retirement, insurance, investment, professional-services, or older demographic audiences is a major advantage.

---

# REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

You should have:

* Previous experience managing YouTube channels
* Strong knowledge of YouTube Studio
* Strong understanding of YouTube Analytics
* Strong understanding of CTR
* Strong understanding of audience retention
* Strong understanding of titles and thumbnails
* Excellent written English
* Excellent attention to detail
* Excellent organizational skills
* Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
* Ability to work independently
* Reliable internet connection
* Ability to communicate clearly and consistently
* Ability to meet deadlines

---

# STRONGLY PREFERRED

Experience with:

* Canva
* CapCut
* Adobe Premiere Pro
* Descript
* OpusClip
* TubeBuddy
* vidIQ
* Google Drive
* ChatGPT/AI tools
* Keyword/topic research
* Thumbnail development
* YouTube Shorts
* Content repurposing

You do NOT need to know every program listed above.

We care more about **results and your understanding of YouTube** than the number of software programs you know.

---

# IMPORTANT

We are NOT looking for someone who only knows how to:

* Upload videos
* Add tags
* Copy descriptions
* Perform basic SEO
* Follow instructions without thinking

We are looking for someone who can eventually say:

**“This video is getting impressions but the CTR is too low. I believe the title and thumbnail are the problem. Here are three changes I recommend.”**

OR:

**“The CTR is strong, but viewers are leaving during the first 60 seconds. We should improve the opening hook.”**

That is the level of YouTube understanding we are looking for.

---
