JOB OVERVIEW

What is LegalBuzz

LegalBuzz is a platform that's changing how law firms get found, trusted, and chosen in the age of AI.

When people need a lawyer today, they're not just searching Google; they're asking ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI-powered search engines to recommend one. Most law firms have no idea this is happening, let alone how to show up in those results. That's the problem LegalBuzz solves.

We combine proven SEO with AI search optimisation to make sure our clients (law firms across the UK, Australia, the USA, and Canada, including Legal 500 firms) get found wherever their clients are looking, and turn that visibility into real enquiries.

The Role

We're looking for a Technical SEO Specialist who keeps our clients' sites fast, crawlable, indexable, and structured to win, in both traditional search and AI search.

You'll own the technical side of every client account: audits, fixes, site architecture, structured data, Core Web Vitals, and making sure both Googlebot and AI crawlers can read and trust every page. Content and links only work when the technical foundation is right; that foundation is your job.

Law firm sites bring their own technical mess: legacy CMS builds, bloated themes, duplicate practice-area pages, broken redirects from old rebrands, and location pages that cannibalise each other. You'll see all of it, and you'll fix it.

The measure of your work is simple: enquiries for our clients. Crawl stats and site health scores matter, but leads are the result we're paid for.

What You'll Do
> Run full technical audits on client sites: crawlability, indexation, site speed, mobile usability, redirects, duplicate content, and internal linking
> Prioritise and ship fixes, working with our dev team or directly in the CMS where possible
> Own site architecture: URL structure, silo/internal linking logic, and pagination for practice areas and location pages
> Implement and maintain structured data (LocalBusiness, LegalService, FAQ, Attorney/Person schema) and keep it valid
> Monitor and improve Core Web Vitals and page experience across the portfolio
> Ensure sites are fully readable and citable by AI crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot) as well as Googlebot: rendering, robots directives, llms.txt where relevant
> Manage site migrations and redesigns: redirect mapping, pre/post-launch checks, and ranking protection
> Set up and maintain Search Console, rank tracking, and technical monitoring so problems are caught before clients notice
> Report clearly on technical health and the impact of fixes, in language a solicitor understands
> Must-Haves (Non-Negotiable, Read Before Applying)

We get a lot of applications from people with SEO certificates and no real experience. We will not shortlist them. If you cannot prove all five of the below, do not apply.

Proven, hands-on experience fixing real websites. Not audits that sat in a slide deck. You have personally diagnosed and fixed technical issues on live sites (crawl problems, indexation failures, broken redirects, speed issues, rendering problems) and you can show the before and after. Rankings recovered, pages indexed, traffic back. Real sites, real fixes, real results.

Proven experience with the right tools, including Screaming Frog. Screaming Frog is non-negotiable; you use it fluently (crawl configuration, custom extraction, comparing crawls, finding issues at scale). Alongside it: Google Search Console, PageSpeed Insights / Lighthouse, and a rank tracking platform (we use SE Ranking). Log file analysis experience is a strong plus. If you've never run a Screaming Frog crawl yourself, do not apply.

A proven track record you will be asked to show. Bring real examples to the call: an audit you ran, the issues you found, the fixes you shipped, and what happened afterwards, with numbers. No examples, no interview. "I followed a checklist" is not a track record.

Deep understanding of how technical SEO drives results, not just clean reports. You know which issues actually move rankings and enquiries and which are tool noise. You prioritise by impact. If your instinct is to fix every orange flag in an audit tool before the issues that are blocking indexation, this is not your role.

Deep, end-to-end technical knowledge. Crawling and indexation, rendering (including JavaScript), site speed and Core Web

Vitals, structured data, redirects and status codes, and site architecture. You can explain why behind every fix, not just what.

Also required:

> Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and enough JavaScript to diagnose rendering issues
> Experience briefing developers clearly and checking their work
> Understanding of how AI search and LLM crawlers change technical requirements
> Self-directed: you can own an audit-to-fix pipeline without hand-holding
> Strong written English; your reports go to clients

Nice to have: experience with law firm or professional services sites, WordPress at scale, and site migration projects.

Why LegalBuzz
